years ago, the seventh day of Febiuary by an act of the State Legislature Danville was organized as a borough, the act being signed by Governor William F. Johnston. The first burgess who served in the new borough was Dr. William H. Magill.

The first twn council was composed of JOHN F. TQOLEY'S; Double Store, Washing-ton, Feb. An unusually large number of senators were on the floor when the vice president's gavel fell. The chaplain in his Invocation prayed for our troops In the Philippines. A feeling prayer was also made for the president, vloe president and congress.

Resolutions were presented by Mr. Fairbanks, Mr. Allen and Mr. Hans-brough, adopted respectively by the legislatures of Indiana, Nebraska and North Dakota, urging the senators of those states to vote for the peaee treaty. Mr.
