DELICIOUS a BASKET this week with her sister, Mrs, 1 machine, driven more than 130,000 miles in the past seven years, has transported approximately 3,000 local and nearby residents to area hospitals. The ambulance service as inaugurated here on May 28, 1931, by the CV firefighters.

The first community ambulance was a Studebaker. The second machine was a La Salle model. All ambulances, including the recently purchased 1948 Cadillac model, have been equipped with Superior bodies, a favorite with the local fire department. Shown in the picture above are Shippensburg's two community ambulances which are being exhibited at the Cumberland Valley Hose company fair which is being held this week on Eschenmann's lot on North Seneca street. Proceeds from the fair are used for the purchase and maintenance of the local ambulances.
