Elizabeth Perkins star in BY JE BAHR WORLD HERALD STA WRITER Some of the developments in are almost unimaginable Picture red lintstone (John Goodwin) coming home from work for example to find his mother in law (Elizabeth Taylor) and Dino each bound and gagged on the floor and choosing to assist the pet dinosaur first The plot also includes a Hatfield McCoy squabble between those two old friends and lodge brothers red and Barney lintstonian scholars can probably cite examples of past friction between Barney and red This is the first discord though to result from red taking the fast track to upper management at Slate Co after which he is called upon to fire Barney But the most amazing thing about is the sheer magnitude of the production One must marvel at the effort and expense that went into bringing all the gags from the TV series to reality in this live action movie Many other movies have tried to overpower audiences with magnificent sets yet have been empty at their core That is not the case thankfully with Unlike many modem films actually has a well constructed plot And while filmgoers necessarily leave the theater yelling Dabba the humor is effective enough to make seeing the film worthwhile The idea of Liz character trading cheap shots with her son in law is certainly novel Many of the other bits are also amusing When red and his co workers from the quarry take Charles Jones Omaha Community Playhouse artistic director has made a brilliant choice for the jubilee show the rousing Broadway musical Most Happy starring Met ropolitan Opera baritone Charles Karel The show is a smash with Karel the solid center of an impressively talented cast of singers that includes Becky Jones a voice instructor and group teacher at the Playhouse Karel seems bom to the role Relaxed warm and sincere with a rich friendly powerful voice he more than filled out the character of Tony Esposito a Napa Valley winemaker who falls in love with a much younger woman he is too shy to confront with his feelings Ms Jones a strong soprano brought a lot of charm and personality to Rosabel la the younger woman and she was not eclipsed by her powerful singing partner The musical book lyrics and music by Broadway legend rank Loesser is quite operatic putting into song much of what normally would be spoken dia logue At times this approach is playful with mock opera passages that Schneider in broad and hilarious satirical numbers This is not light opera expect Sigmund Romberg Rather the music is a clever combination of styles running from Broadway show tunes to Mozart like
