William West moreland led a conspiracy to un derestimate enemy forces TV Guide magazine says The article of a examined the documenta ry Uncounted Enemy: A Viet nam broadcast Jan 23 It appears in the May 29 edition TV Guide said Monday inaccuracies distortions and violations of journalistic stan dards in Uncounted suggest that television news guards' for fairness and accuracy need tightening if not wholesale re the magazine said CBS spokeswoman Marsha Stein in New York reading a statement prepared by CBS News said: TV Guide article raises serious questions that are being reviewed by CBS Because of the length of the article and the complexity of the subject matter it would be inappro priate to respond at this The 90 minute documentary in terviewed military and government officials involved in the Vietnam war before the Tet offensive in 1968 and concluded that US military intelligence forces under West moreland systematically underre ported the strength of the Viet Cong rebels to make it appear the United States was winning a war of attri tion Three days after the show West moreland and Lt Gen Daniel Gra ham held a news conference in Washington to denounce the pro gram and demand an apology from CBS which they never got Other denials by former Johnson adminstration officials raised ques tions that led TV Guide to under take the two month investigation by reporters Don possible light and that a correction Westmoreland sent the network after the interview was never in cluded in the documentary Channel 7 To Broadcast Vintage Television Programs In a move that will bring the Jack Benny Burns and Allen and other vintage programs to late night tele vision Tulsa Cable Television is switching channel 7 from KXTX Dallas to the Christian Broadcast ing Network officials said Mon day: The change is scheduled for June 14 CBN owns KXTX orty percent of program ing is religious 90 percent of that is on cable program ing director George Stewart said The remainder of the pro graming will be syndicated shows and movies Stewart said Stewart said the change is pri marily because KXTX signs off at 2 pm CBN is a 24 hour service Such shows as Burns and Allen and Life
