Elk City resident arrived in plenty of time Monday to get a good seat for the swearing in of Henry Bellmon as the 23rd governor of Oklahoma It was her 15th inaugural like pomp and ceremony if someone else is doing she quipped On a more serious note Mrs Parr said she comes to the inau gurations because of her interest in government Looking over the official pro gram for the Bellmon swearing in she said she believes the cere monies have grown longer through the years No doubt for that reason Mrs Parr said she is especially thank ful for another of the changes that have occurred over the years several holdover em ployees from Leo administration have reported finding planted on or around their desks in recent weeks Edwards also raised the possibility that his own phones at his home and OKLAHOMA CITY With a call for excellence Henry Bell mon was inaugurated Monday as the 23rd governor of Oklahoma Bellmon took the oath of office at 12:04 pm on the south steps of the Capitol in front of some 2000 Oklahomans who showed up to view the ceremony It was a day of historic as Bellmon became the first per son ever to serve as governor of Oklahoma after being in the Unit ed States Senate and the first per son ever to serve a non consecu tive second term as chief executive Bellmon asked the crowd to give a standing ovation to Gov George Nigh the man he is re placing he leaves public "Should I have said temporari Bellmon asked Nigh wait and he added It was the second time Bellmon has succeeded Nigh as chief exec utive The first was 24 years ago when Bellmon was elected gover nor the first time Nigh served the last nine days of the late Gov Howard Ed term after Edmondson resigned and allowed Nigh who was lieutenant governor to be come governor and appoint him to a US Senate vacancy Monday was the end of the Nigh era and the beginning of a new Bellmon era in state govern ment will write that his ser vice was performed with an atti tude that always stayed bright and that Washington Bureau WASHINGTON Sen David Boren upset over testimony about the Iran arms scandal being leaked to the new media clamped new security restrictions Monday on senators and staffers to prevent further leaks of material from the Senate Select Committee on Intelligence Boren Okla committee chairman said a document which was apparently leaked is not complete and contains some factual The 15 member committee has been holding closed hearings on the diversion of funds from an Iran arms sale to the Contras in Nicaragua Key Reagan administration officials have been among the witnesses Among has delivered order forms to residents and businesses along with a flyer explaining how to order stamps and stamped stationery by return mail Post Office spokesman Minnie Hefner said the other 11 satellite stations will be delivering flyers and order forms in upcoming weeks Ms Hefner said although the post office has offered stamps by mail for several years apparent few customers are aware of
