Uuder the rules carriers are not required to leave their teams to get to the boxes, but in many cases they have, out of purely good nature, plowed through the snow to serve their patrons when the government does not require them to do so.

According to the carriers serving the territory around Middlebury this wading through the snow is getting a trifle wearisome and it would not be surprising if those who neglect to shovel a path to their boxea fail to get their mail delivered. The rural carrh-r is an almost indispen-sible necessity in these days, his troubles are many, and it is only fair that those whom he serves should do their share.
