9 1. in 5, A or is in -PITTSBURGH POST GAZETTE: THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 1972. 29- Gap Narrowing WASHINGTON (Special) The U.S. trade deficit narrowed to a seasonably adjusted $415 million in October from $513.2 million in September, the Commerce Department reported. The October excess of importliest since exports the $318.8 was mil- the lion trade deficit last January and compared with the record monthly deficit of $814.9 million in October 1971.

Imports totaled an adjusted $4.78 billion last month, up 2.3 per cent from September's $4.67 billion. But exports rose at a faster rate, climbing per cent to $4.36 billion in October from $4.16 billion in September. In the first ten months this year, the nation's trade deficit has totaled an adjusted $5.28 billion more than double the red ink for all of 1971.
