Her intention for Holmes House was not as a hospital, Mrs. Kidwell and Mrs. Reineman pointed out, but as a "home to assist those who are incurable and have no home or friends to give them the care and attention necessary for their comfort." Over the years, the board of managers has been able to continue this philosophy, they added. One of the residents celebrated her 97th birthday a few days ago at the nurses' station at the home.
