eastern Kansas which took the lives of eight persons Saturday and a crash in which six of nine per sons in one car in New York State were killed were the worst reported traffic accidents during the early hours of the ourth of July weekend Nebraska recorded one traf fic fatality and Iowa five at the start of the holiday weekend Iowa also reported two drown ings The National Safety Council estimates between 530 and 630 persons will be killed on high ways during the holiday period which began at 6 pm local time riday and stretches through midnight Monday Authorities said that a pickup with a camper carrying a fam ily of seven from Kansas City Mo was southbound when a small foreign car apparently crossed the center line and struck the pickup head on on US 69 near La Cygne Kan Identification The Kansas Highway Patrol listed those dead from the pick up as Charles Johns Jr 52 William Johns 44 Patricia Johns 7 Latonya Johns 14 Michael Pierson 20 and George Hill 35 The two
