The raid on the race track at New Kensington, which resulted in the arrest of 62 per-I sons iiml tlic confiscation of cbnsider-j able gambling paaphernalia was con-j ducted by members of the Greensbuig troop of the state police on complaints of citizens of New Kensington. I Neither Governor Pinchot nor Major 1 Lynn C. Adams, superintendent of police, knew of the contemplated action, and no orders were sent from H-orisburg. "We will lr.ake arres's wherever gambling is taking place, whenever our attention to called to declared Major Adams today. "I understand citizens of New Kensington complained of the pari-mutuel machines and the gambling at New Kensington and the captain there acted without orders from this office." "I will hack Hie state police to the limit whenever they are called upon to enforce the law." declared Governor Pinchot.

The governor refused to dis-cufs rare track gambling, tut he was insistent that the laws of the commonwealth must, be obeyed. He said he had not heard of the action at New lvenslngton. Major Adams said that complaint made to troop commanders are acted upon without orders from the Harris-burg otrlce where the law was being violated, and he said that continued raids would be made at the New Kensington track if the gambling continued. CThe action cf the state police and the assurance of backing from the governor indicate that the end of race track gambling at New Kensington is at hand. Morningside Cancels.
