A new power plant for the group of county buildings, to connect with the Panhandle railroad at grade to permit easy handling of fuel, also is included In the plans.

The county planning commission will have prepared as soon as possible printed matter and illustrations showing the new improvement as recommended and will lay the preliminary plans before the Chamber of Commerce, the penal reform bodies, the state department of welfare and such civic bodies as are interested, as well as before the board of judges and the county commissioners. SALE OF" OLD CITY HALL. It is estimated that the cost of the entire new combined project above that of the county office building originally planned as a separate unit and the repairs already ordered to the present jail, will not greatly exceed $2,000,000, much of which will be offset by the sale of the Old City Hall building in SmithHeld street, the occupants of which will be housed in the new structure as well as many other county activities occupying outside quarters, for which the county is now paving considerable rentals. March 6. The Ion g-pendin dispute between the Chicago sanitary district and states other than Illinois that border on the Great Lakes over lowering lake levels culminated today in the issuance to the district by Secreatry Weeks of a conditional permit to withdraw 8,500 cubic feet per second from Lake Michigan trp to December 31,. 1929. The district had applied for 10,000 feet per second. The conditions stipulated contemplate reduction of withdrawals on a progressive scale to 4,164 cubic feet per second or less by 1935.

Sewage disposal projects required of the trict to this end involve an otimated wiwc or $54,192,000, to cover which the district wiH need additional bonding power.
