The News Monday September 5 1994 C11 AUTO RACING No fade for Elliott in Southern 500 'Bill Elliott shook offlthe tag Sunday to win the Southern 500 at Partington Raceway ByPete lacotMlli Associated Press sports writer DARLINGTON SC Bill Elliott was tired of the talk He hopes ended it now heard people call me a former fading champion but at least I got here said Elliott who powered past Dale Earnhardt 13 from the finish to win the Southern 500 at Darlington Raceway on Sunday It was the first Winston Cup vic tory for Elliott in 52 races since Nov 15 1992 at Atlanta Motor Speedway heard Rusty Wallace com ment one time doubt your said Elliott who earned 568330 for his third Southern 500 won enough races that my ability should never be in doubt I felt like won races for a rea "On
