sullen Tigers thereby gave Nebraska a big lift in its quest for a straight Big Eight title although their own championship ambitions went down the drain Missouri had come from be hind after the Intercollegiate Con ference Dropped into the cellar aft er losing their first two league games the Indians won their last two and finished a year with a 5 4 rec ord An' appreciative turnout of 22 hundred saw the Omahans score their most points of the campaign Thirteen point attacks in the second quarter with a gusting wind up to 30 miles an hour and in the fourth against the breeze provided the big mar gin ort Hays scored the first and last touchdowns but Omaha dominated even more than indicated by the score A fumble led to the first Tiger touchdown a penalty made a third quarter safety possible and Indian indiffer ence set up a 43 yard ort Hays touchdown pass on the final play reshman Doug Butler who led rushing with 98 yards on 17 carries fumbled at the Omaha 10 early in the second over Michigan Spar tans too The new Notre Dame Sat urday out ran out passed and out tackled a good Michigan State team 34 to 7 The Spartans had whipped the Irish annually for eight years and won 11 of their last dozen meetings But they never were in contention Sat urday Notre Dame scored on its second play from scrim mage and had a 12 to 0 lead after nine minutes Nick Eddy a speedster sophomore set the pattern He swept right end then cut left to sprint 61 yards for a touchdown on the second Irish scrimmage play Later he romped five yards for his second touchdown of the game Eddy had a 78 yard touch down run called back and still carried the ball 16 times for 113 yards in all The Irish passing combine of John Huarte and Jack Snow was just as devastating Huarte completed 11 of 17 for 193 yards He connected to ullback Joe arrell on a 13 yard touchdown toss and ran 21 yards to score himself Huarte completed six passes to Snow for 114 yards and also passed to Snow and Eddy for two point in one victory of a perfect season A record crowd of 49500 including representatives of the Orange Sugar and Cotton Bowls watched the Huskers raise their season record to 9 0 the gaudiest string since the 1903 team won 1 1 in a row A Nebraska spokesman said no bowl offers have been made talks are continuing with representatives of the Sugar and Cotton The Huskers need a victory at Oklahoma this week to wrap up their second consecutive Big Eight championship With the once beaten Sooners being held to a tie by Missouri Saturday the only surviving title challenger is Kansas Should Oklahoma upset NU and Kansas turn back Missouri the Huskers and Jayhawks would share the crown with 6 1 records Long Plays Score The clinching points against Oklahoma State were not registered until Mike
