Ron Rininger, KDKA-TV's noon weather reporter, On Radio ate had called her several times and accused her of cribbing the KDKA report and using it on her show.

DeNARDO SAID he had talked with Miss Schano once Wednesday night. He wouldn't say anymore about it. Miss Schano was so Worked up, she made an admission you don't often hear from TV weather reporters: "The weather business Is a guessing game. If we're right 51 per cent of the time, we're lucky. Both KDKA and WTAE had predicted snow by yesterday afternoon.

By press time last night no snow. NOW THAT KDKA TV has sewed up the Pirate baseball telecasts, the station also may snatch the Steeler football games from WIIC, which carried the games last year because of an arrangement between the Steelers and Baltimore Colts and NBC-TV. Pete Rozclle, the National Football League commissioner, wants to peddle his league's television rights next season as a single package to one network, which would have to CBS (of which KDKA is an affiliate) because most of the NFL teams, already have contracts with CBS. "This is not Mr. Kofkwood the forecast at this time," cautioned Rininger. Too late. Six-to-eight inches was all listeners heard. Callers descended upon radio and television stations, newspapers and the U.S.

Weather Bureau to find out when the snow was coming. HARASSED HENRY Rock wood, the U.S. weatherman, finally Issued a disclaimer: "There are reoprts In the Pittsburgh area that one of the radio television stations has announced that snow will occur tonight (Wednesday) to seven to 12 inches. No such statement has been issued by the Weather Bureau In Pittsburgh. "The private meteorologist In Pittsburgh has assured us that no such statement has been issued by them.

RIVAL STATIONS, chortling over what they thought was KDKA's discomfort, broadcast the disclaimer. Sterling Yates, Channel 2's 11:10 p. m. weather reporter, repeated the capability report late Wednesday (except the figure had been revised down to two to four inches) and stoutly insisted several times that failing to mention it would be a "disservice" to the program's customers. "For anyone to think we said that much snow would fall Is ridiculous." said Joe DeNardo, KDKA's private forecaster, said yesterday.

"They just tried to give us the business. "I don't think anyone can forecast beyond a 24-hour period. The capability is significant to this point if people want to know what to expect beyond 24 hours. Seeing, what this has done, the only time I'll ever mention it again is when it's within 24 hours." THEATER AND night club owners in Pittsburgh have complained several times that long-range advice handed out by weather broadcasters has scared away their customers. And rival broadcasters insist KDKA's forecast isn't so special anyway because without the U.S.
