NEW HIKING- LAW. The Eureka Sentinel condenses the provisions of a bill introduced in Congress by Mr. Sargent, of California, to promote the devel- uuicm, ui uju uiuiurai resources oi nic united line will soon be constructed in Arizona: States. Claims must lc located and held subject to State laws and the regulation of mining dis-! tricts, but the boundaries of the claim must be distinctly marked on the ground, and the record of the claim must describe its location by reference to natural objects or permanent I monuments. One of these was the case of Peter Bos, of Co. 21st In- fontry, who accidentally discharged his gun, the ball from which inflicted a wound that caused death the following day. This took place at the Cicnega about the latter part of February. The other case referred to was that of M. Kecgan, Co.

National LaborConvention. The National Labor Convention assembled at Columbus, Ohio, on the 22d and nominated Judge Davis of the Supreme Court as a candidate for President, and Parker, of New Jersey, for Vice President. The platform embraces the following points Declaring in favor of the adoption of a national circulating medium, issued directly to the people, without the intervention of banking cor- jHjrations; payment of the national debt, at the earliest option of the Government, without mortgaging the property or labor of the people to enrich capitalists; denouncing the exemption of Government bonds from taxation opposing grants of public lands to corporations favoring such modification of the tariff as will assist in further developing the resources of the country; declaring that the importation of the Chinese laborers should be prohibited by Congress; demanding the enforcement of the Eight-hour law on all public works; declaring in favor of collecting war debts the cost of wars during their progress, instead of creating a public debt; calls for legislation to prevent extortion by railroads and telegraphs; favors the one-term principle; favors general amnesty and equal rights for all demands the subjecting of the military to the civil power; recommends the revision of the Patent laws, so as to give labor the full benefit of their advantages declares fitness, not political or personal considerations, the only recommendation for public office.
