Leu ef Lifs ni lasUgv Vary Qreit Last week's Issue of Thi Chronicle referred briefly to the storm that swept this State and other parts of the East on Wednesday evening. The loss of life at Reading is not so high as the estimate then given, but the destruction of property is very great, A wind storm, accompanied by bail and torrents of rain, visited Pittsburg, about noon. A new building, 80 by 80 feet in dimensions and seven stories high, was in course of erection at Diamond and Wood streets, and the front bad not yet been put in. The wind entered this shell and parted the walls, one falling each way and partly wrecking nearly a dozen other buildings. A number of persons were butied in the ruins.

From the best information that could be obtained at the time eight persons were killed and 35 others injured, some of them, it is thought, fatally. A rain and wind storm came up suddenly at Sunbury, Penna and blew over two of the stacks of the Sunbury nail mill. They crashed through the roof of the puddling department, killed C. C. Showers and an unknown tramp, and injured ten others, one fatally.

Four other men are still missing. A wind and rain storm swept over the Cumberland Valley doing damage estimated at 5,000. The Government Training School for Indians, the Gobin Guards armory and a number of dwellings in Carlisle were damaged. Barns and out-building were blown down In the surrounding country. Considerable damage was done at Mechanicsburg.
