Let's make it $200/100, enough for a fighter and a bomber plane. in a spirit that will THE Professional writers and advertising experts skilled in the use of words are racking their brains for new slogans and catch phrases with which to say dramatically . . . powerfully . . . what this war means to "we Americans." But those who planned this contest know that each and every loyal American has a heart full of thoughts expressing what he feels about our part in this world conflict. This is our war . . . everybody's war . . . "We the people" speak FIGHTING WORDS— and that is why this contest has been made open to everybody: an opportunity to make your own FIGHTING WORDS do a double-barreled job: ( 1 ) Tell the world how we want to, and are going to, help rid the world of Fascism. (2) At the same time enable you to win the year's grandest of grand prizes — UNITED STATES WAR SAVINGS STAMPS. Butchers, bakers, candlestick makers: men behind desks: the man on the street — you've all been hurling militant phrases at the enemy across store counters and at the corner lamppost. Now put those words in writing, and enter them in this contest! \ Schoolgirls, housewives, grandmothers: you've been dishing out some pretty pithy opinions about taking an axe to the axis while you chiat over mah jong tables ... in beauty parlors . . . in your homes.
