Off to See the Wizard. "Zebra in the Kitchen." (19G5) If the title intrigues you, you'll find out how it was derived in the final half of this Ivan Tors family movie about an animal-loving lad and his adventures. Jay North of "Maya" stars as the boy who causes an uproar when he frees all the animals from a zoo, including his recently captured pet mountain lion. The animals are the scene stealers here and the kids will enjoy their antics. p.

m. (TJ Gomer Pyle. An innocuous story illustrating how conscientious Gomer is. Asked to sing for a Marine variety show, Gomer not only attends rehearsals under protest, but finishes his regular chores at night. Jim Nabors' sleepy sequences are amusing and fans can hear him boom out "Desert Song" and "Onward, Onward!" at the end.

p. m. JD (D-Star Trek. "The Trouble With Trib-bles." Amusing episode about the rabbits of the future called tribbles. When merely one of these cuddly, lovable animals is taken aboard the Enterprise, its reproduction rate floods the starship with more tribbles.

p. m. UJ) CZ) Bell Telephone Hour. "Casals at Marlboro." Today marks the 91st birthday of the fabulous Pablo Casals, musical artist extraordinary, and this hourlong special is a fitting tribute to his unflagging genius. Taped last summer at the Marlboro Music Festival in Vermont, we see the great maestro working with talented young musicians, passing on the fruits of his lifetime devotion to music.

The still vigorous Mr. Casals calls Marlboro "a temple of music" and that's what it is, an extensive concert and workshop attended by a large number of young musicians who eat, sleep and drink music all summer long. In addition to the numerous rehearsals sessions and informal comments by Casals and pianist Rudolf Serkin, who runs Marlboro, the audience is treated to the glorious music of Bach, Beethoven, Schoenberg, Shostakovich and Schubert. All in all, a thoroughly captivating hour. p.

The Smothers Brothers are said to be in a mood to call it quits with CBS unless the network eases its censorship of their material, particularly as it applies to politics and the Vietnam War. Incidentally, that Martin special mentioned above, got a 47 rating and drew a 75 per cent share of the audience in New York City. This is the highest share of audience, for a single show, on record. "Peyton Place" has been renewed for another 26 episodes, which will take it through June.

Series which look as though they will have their first option picked up are "The Flying Nun," "Ironside," "Jerry Lewis," "Carol Burnett," "Gentle Ben" and "Mothers-In-Law." William Holden, who made his film debut in "Gold-en Boy," in 1939, has finally agreed to go the TV route with a series of specials for next season. To be called "William Holden's Untamed World," they will be set in Africa, where the star has spent most of the past nine years. The hours are reportedly budgeted at $300,000 each. The contract, with David Wolper Productions, is lor a three year period. "The Human Beinz," whose recording of "Nobody But Me" is a current pop hit, will make a return guest appearance tomorrow on Channql li "Come Alive." The Federal Communications Commission has okayed the transfer of control of WH.IB and WOKU-FM to Milton J.

Shapp and Mclvin A. Goldberg. The latter was a member of the previous Grccnsburg station ownership group. AN HOUR-LONG special, "Rod MacLeish and David Ben-Gurion: Who Are the Jews?" will be aired by Channel 2 on January 9, starting at 7:30 p.m. The Group production will include interviews with Ben-Gurion, Moishe Dayan's daughter, Yael Dayan; Ammen Rubenstin, journalist and lecturer at Hebrew University in Jerusalem; actress Orna Perat, a convert to Judaism; Jerusalem mayor Teddy Kolek; poet Chaim Hofer and others.

The first of a scries of scientific adventure programs being filmed by undersea explorer Jacques Yves-Cous-teau, "Sharks," will be telecast on Channel 4 from 7:30 to 8:30 p. m. on January 8. Susan St. James, who will make frequent appearances in the new Robert Wagner scries, "It Takes A Thief," will be in Pittsburgh next Wednesday beating the drums for the program, which makes its Channel 4 debut on 1:05 p.m.

(WJAS FM Opera-Ballet Theater. Beethoven's "Fidelio" highlights, Philharmonic Orchestra and Chorus. 1:05 p.m. (WLOA AM 1550; Pop Concert. Time on Stage," Broad- Radio Stations spotty ana, propaDiy Decause it is a safe enough thing to satirize, both dealt at some length with the advent of the miniskirt.

Woody opened with a classy stand up mono logue, stepped aside from time to time for soul- singing guest Win Fanning Aretha Franklin and singer-actress Liza Minnelli, sparred with conservative columnist William Buckley in a funny, if scripted, question and answer session with the audience, and was joined by Miss Minnelli and comedian John Byner in a sketch or three. After stating that "Bonnie and Clyde" was probably the best movie of the year, Allen presented a skit, "Bonnie's Cyde," which rather neatly underscored why there are many who disagree with this Judgment. In the miniskirt routine he made the point that this mad mod mode is just fine for other men's women during the next hour Winters made the same point much more effectivelyand although it was a bit drawn out, Allen also scored nicely with a portrayal of a former child star with political ambitions. The whole thing was billed as a "Review of 1967" and, within certain rather severe limitations, it did manage to cast a jaundiced eye on much of the nonsense that goes into a year's news. Allen is a fine actor and, generally speaking, a splendid off-beat comic.

WINTERS REVIVED his Maudie Frickert character for his opening sketch. For those who enjoy seeing men in drag this was amusing enough, I guess. It was at least as' amusing as Milton Berle's excursions into the same field, if this is not damning with too faint praise. Barbara Eden was In good voice for a medley of songs, while Red Skelton sparked things considerably with one of his drunk routines and, with the host, in a lumberjack mime. Ivan Dixon, one of the country's leading actors who also happens to be a Negro, was involved in a dreary, tasteless, take-off of the splendid Sidney Poiticr film, "In the Heat of the Night," and something rather unkempt called the Doors loomed into view from time to time to present a perfectly dreadful imitation of the Beatles.

Abby Dalton wore the miniskirt most tastefully and attractively-shc's not MY wife, of course and a group of dancers completed the outing. Any final judgment about the direciiou 1ms new entry may lake must wail for at least one or two more programs. Winters is a great talent, but I fear he continues to be a most difficult one to tame. MORE BRIEFLY: NBC has reportedly banned that disturbing "Efficiency Expert" ad for a car rental firm which was used during the otherwise excellent "Dean Martin Christmas Show."
