Independent Phone 307 The ex-service men of the county are arranging to pull off a big night in Deratur on Wednesday, January 3rd, at the armory hall on the second floor of the MeMurray Gettys building. Every ex-service man in the county Is urged to be present at this time, as a real good time is anticipated. A special program is being prepared for the entertainment of the men, which includes, oratory, fun and amusement, with plenty of music. A big banquet will also be served at this time.

At this meeting new officers will be elected for the Wise county post of the American Legion, and other plans perfected for the renewal of the activities of the legion in the county. Tell all your buddies of this big time in store for them and bring them with you. Don't forget the date Wednesday night, January 3rd METHODIST CHURCH Next Sunday being Christmas eve day, we will have a brief service Sunday morning. The decorations and music will be appropriate to the season. At the night service a pageant representing the nativity of Christ will be presented by the junior and intermediate leagues, under the direction of Mmes.

M. College agricultural extension department is offering, be- i ginning January 24th and February 28th, 1923, an eight course i in automobiles and tractors. This i course is to prepare the power farm er, or anyone operating an automobile or tractor, to operate with minimum expense. This is done teaching the construction, operation and repair of the internal combustion engine in its modern application. The repair is emphasized doubly so bj the necessary intensive shop work.

It is the intention that this cour.e shall save more than its cost to the 5 1 owner of even only one machine by increased efficiency and longer dura bilitv; while to the owner of a number of machines or those interested in commercial repair, it offers an opportunity to obtain the necessary knowledge. On last Monday morning Sheriff Cearley received a telephone sage from Chico advising him to go at once to Alvord and take his best deputy with him.
