John Stranzer and Warwick Horspool EW 1 Brenda Evans and Olive Davies 2 Gill Ambrose and Jean Basset 3 Joyce Rickard and Peter Stott RAMBLERS: On Sunday August 4 the Vale of Clwyd Group were joined by members of various other groups of the ramblers assocition and two new walkers sixteen in all on a seven mile walk starting from Bryn Rhyd-yr-Arian and led by Geraint Roberts The party set out along an uphill lane with hedge rows entwined with scented honeysuckle Once off the road we passed by the derelict buildings of Tan-Tryfan and crossed the stream Nant-y-Terfyn Going by Tan Tryfan Bach a family of buzzards were spotted circling over a stand of pines on the lower slopes of Mynydd Tryfan With Geraint in front chopping back the bracken that had grown over the path we traversed the steep hillside at the top taking a break for refreshments looking down on Coed-orros and the lovely rolling hillside below us After a photocall we climed the old (stepped) wall stile making our descent of Mynydd Tryfan over gentle grassy slopes to a tree lined path which gave welcome shade At Arilwyn farm we went along the drive to the (B5382) Henllan to Bryn Rhyd-yr-Arian road A half mile walk in the direction of Henllan brought us to a pretty dwelling with brightly coloured windows (once a chapel) where we turned off along a track to Moel Fodiar stopping at the top for lunch with views of the coast and Snowdon in the far distance A downward path took us in the direction GRONANT RHYL KOI: Due to the boundary changes the and Koi section is now renamed North Wales KOI section We amalgamate with both West Wales and South Wales sections so completing section coverage of the whole fo Wales June 16 was the visit by Birmingham Sec-t'on 43 visitors were conducted on a tour of our coastline Rhyl to Penmaenmawr visiting 6 members pools ending with a wonderful buffet at Tynewydd Community Centre June 29 and 30 we staged a Koi Exhibition at Tal Goed Nurseries Conwy where we had an excellent interest shown in our promotional display along with some of the best Koi in North Wales on display Our advisory team were kept quite busy with queries on construction filtration fish health etc Indeed our membership benefited from the exercise We are repeating this exhibition on August 17 and 18 at Tal Goed Nurseries Conwy Koi enthusiasts do come along for a chat Sunday July 14 we entertain the East Pennines Section Our programme is now well planned into 1997 with many top speakers booked for our winter meetings As always our helpline no (01745) 332017 is avaialble to any Koi hobbyist needing assistance or infomration on section activities LLANDUDNO PHOTOGRAPHIC SOCIETY: The 199697 season opens on Wednesday Septebmer 4 Dress rehearsal takes place on Sunday August 18 at 2 pm in the Garden at Llysfaen This annual get-together is intended to get members taking about what they have done all summer At the same time its an opportunity to photograph people activities and wildlife in the garden be a lot of energy spent on trying to capture that special shot to enter in the Nature Competition the new cup given by Gwyn Jones is the prize At this time of the year the garden is usually invaded by a variety of butterflies as well as birds The pond is stocked with NANT YOUTH CLUB: The inaugural meeting of the Friends of Gronant Youth Club took place on Thursday July 25 1996 The aim of the organisation is to raise funds and acquire equipment to support the activities of the Gronant Youth Club The formation of the Friends comes at a time when there are reports that the county council may have to cut back in its spending plans Fund raising especially for small groups is time consuming and there is considerable competition from other community organisations The friends objectives are to secure sponsorship in ash or kind from local businesses and explore avenues of applying for money from Grant making Trusts and Charities There are two types of membership: individual from local people and corporate from locally based companies The chairman of the Friends is the Vicar of the Parish of Lla-nasa Rev George Trimby The first fund raising event is a car boot sale and games dat at Shore Road Gronant on Monday August 26 starting from 1 1 am There will be a steam train ride BBQ and a variety of games all run by youth club members RAMBLING CLUB: On Sunday August 11 34 members led by Geoff Masterton completed a 9 mile walk to Worlds End Starting at the top of the Horseshoe Pass they walked over to Ty Canol and Worlds End Then after climbing up through the woodland to Cralg-y-Cythraul and Craig-y-Adar the party stopped for lunch below Craig Arthur The walk then continued to Bryn Gloeu and Plas-yn-Eglwyseg and through the forest to Glyn and then back to the Horseshoe Pass On Sunday August 18 there will be 2 walks The A walk led by Les Hodgetts is a 6 mile Marchlyn Mawr Circular starting from ATS Car Park at 9 am The walk led by Howell Blythin is
