PHONE 66 Consumer Income Increase Influences Price Of Milk WASHINGTON, Jan. 6 (INS) The agriculture department says that an increase in consumer income, pushed up by accelerating mobilization, already has influenced the prices of milk and other dairy products. The department says that a rise in consumer demand for dairy products has been reflected in increased consumption of dairy products and higher prices.

Consumer demand has increased because of increased incomes. Consumption of fluid milk in recent months has been a little larger than a year earlier and prices have risen more than seasonally since early summer. Consumption of manufactured dairy products also has increased, and with production declining, the department says stocks of these products are being reduced much more rapidly this year than last. The department says that use of milk in outlets will continue to expand as consumer income rises further. Since farm milk production in 1951 is not likely to increase over 1950, the supply of milk for manufacture will continue to decline.
