CLINTON. June 18-At a meeting of the directors of the Business Commercial club Tuesday evening in the offices of the president; Fred Ball. it was decided that no format Fourth of July. celebration should bel given by the Commercial club. This will not bar the merchants from preparing for a celebration if they.

Oiling Streets. Since the recent attempts of the city to enact the plans by waich the streets should be oiled instead of watered. some of, the citizens are testing the oiling proposition about the streets of their homes. Other towns which have! used the oil have been investigated but as it means of bringing it under the immediate notice the city. these citizens as an experiment are oiling the streets at expense.

There is some objection to oil being placed on the pavement as investigation of some of the city officials shows that it has a destructive influence on The pavements. The use of the oil on the dirt streets meets with no objections and should these experiments prove satisfactory the city will probably realize any benefits which might be received and continue the oiling extensively.
