Mate sure your mums and dads put their clocks BACK ONE HOUR before they go to bed This means the end of extender summer time and i sure sign that winter is getting close There will be less daylight In the after-uxms and lighter mornings Some of you may wonder what this is all about Weil why not make some enquiries from teacher dad or anyone and find out for yourself The other Important thing to remember is of course OUR FIREWORK NIGHT A large advertisement about is on this page and all you have to do is note the date FRIDAY NOVEMBER 4 be sure you are a member or if not to till come along and bring mums and dads brothers and alsters uncles anr aunts Club members are admitted free and It's only a 1- for everyone else LETTERS SENT TO PETER POST 1 have had lots of letters from you including one from Dominic Barber of Fishponds ITS THE DAY FOR THE NO THIS is not a James Bond code word it is something much-more serious It is 'he abbreviation for the BRITISH LEPROSY RELIEF ASSOCIA TION They have a special campaign in progress for the adoption of children suffering from leprosy This scheme provides the opportunity of personal participation in the treatment of these children In Hs early stages leprosy can be cured many times a long progress but sometimes within two years The little chappy shown this page is Salimu so Abdala Mwichande from Maverenje District Kilva in East Africa He had active injury on forehead and arms and was admitted for treatment in May 1966 He is responding to treatment and will be cured in two or less years The cost of this cure could be £16 per annum for at least mm- ALBUMS OF performances have become almost commonplace among the onthly issues of LPs They range from risque cabaret performances to Salvation Army festivals and the Edinburgh Military Tattoo But to find out what the word really means no one could do better than to grab a sensational two-disc Reprise album Sinatra at the Sands Here in the finest vocal release of the year is some 80 minutes of the best Sinatra since his Songs for Swinging Lovers of 10 years ago Here is pretty well the complete Sinatra stage show complete with some humorous chat which makes most of our top comedians sound pretty tame Reports that he is 50 Sinatra tells his delighted audience are propaganda straight from After hearing this punchy performance nothing less than a look at his birth certificate will convince me that he is now almost 51 There was a time when orchestras were not content merely to accompany singers or follow them through strange changes of key and tempo They pushed an artist along with a drive beat and vigour as we are reminded by a fine Music for Pleasure LP The lively Ones on which Vic Damone of four years ago makes the most of the spirited help he gets from Billy band In what is in turn a rocking ride and an essay in romantic tenderness THOMAS ALSTONK GOOD Beach Boys (Capitol) Long-awaited Good Vibrations is the KO punch in tht battle of experimentation between British and US groups Effect-music efforts by the Beatles Yardbirds Stones ana others pall before this amazing Brian Wilson production WiLson describes as a symphony" It has sax (T movements emotionally ranging from rock to early classical The Boys cover an immense expanse musically and vocally take all the rapid switches of tempo chords and mood easily within their stride and finish with a masterwork Unhappily the Beach Boys forthcoming British tour wont 3 take in Bristol LOOKING John Mayall (Decea) a 5 Snappy follow up to the Parchment Farm 3 success Nice bluesy feel to a cleverly-worded song set In 3 foot-tapping rhythm and despite recent Une-up changes It definitely has the excellent John Mayall touch 3 FIREWORK DISPLAY EASTVILLE STADIUM GATES OPEN 6 FIRE OFF 7 pm
