Women Meet WOOD RIVER- Karl Fulp, former president of the Woman's Club, and member of the Citizen's Committee, will speak on the city manager form of government at the first meeting of the Junior Woman's Club Monday night. This wjjl be a potluck dinner meeting set for 6:30 at the Wood River School Building. Mrs. Francis Manning, president, will conduct the meeting. Mrs.

Fulp will give facts concern- Ing the manager system and will answer any questions in the open forum following her talk. Returns From Florida WOOD RIVER Mrs. Letha Helmantoler, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Wlllli Helmantoler of 550 George has returned from Elgin AFB, where she has been the guest of her brother, Lt.

Col. and Mrs. W. L. Helmantoler.

Miss Helmantoler was accompanied by her brother and family, who will visit their parents for several days. Miss Helmantoler will leave soon for Normal University at Normal, 111., where she will enter her senior year. She was one of 15 girls chosen to be honod residents at Fell Hall, and act as senior counselor. Wood River Qass To Resume Meets WOOD RIVER The Mixers Class of the First Methodist Church will have their first fall meeting Monday in the church basement. Vernon Loafman, class president, has called the meeting for the purpose of electing new officers. This will be a potluck at 6 p. m.

Lorena Ave. PTA Chairmen Named WOOD RIVER The Standard Oil Torch Club has scheduled a family picnic Sunday, Sept. 21, at their club grounds off the Fosterburg Road. It will be an all-day affair and activities will include softball and horseshoe tournaments, with trophies awarded to the winning teams.

Tentative plans for and movies have been made time and equipment permits. There will be free fish sandwiches, soda and ice cream and snowballs for those attending. Balloons will be furnished for the younger members. Members have been asked to bring their own basket lunches and beverage. WOOD C.

Bank Bandit to Speak Sunday at Roxana Baptist ROXANA A confessed bank robber who wants to "warn younger kids to avoid the fate thai befell me" will speak at fhe First Baptist Church during the morn- Ing worship hour, at 9:45, Sunday, has been announced by Pastor L. E. Muxtain. Al Johnson, 23-year-old of Topekn, a sheetmetal worker, confessed the robbery of the Hoyt, bank of J950 in Following his conversion in Reward Avenue Baptist Church in Topeka. He has since repaid $335 to the bank, his share of fhe loot, and is free under the Kansas statute of limitations.

Johnson, who is now married arm the father of a 5-months-old son, hopes to enter Bible school and prepare for the ministry, but in the meantime is conducting a one- man crusade to save young people from lives of vice and crime.
