Well it soon might be coming to the city if Kaiser Per manente decides to build a hos pital at the former Albertsons distribution center at Interstate 880 and Marina Boulevard to re place its current Hayward Med ical Center Because the potential site is much too large for only a hos pital city officials are looking to build an adjacent 30 acre mixed use development to complement Kaiser: The planning is only in the beginning stages and still ten tative but already city officials see dollar signs in the proposed de velopment have Kaiser without some revenue generating from the site because it support the City Manager John Jermanis said Tuesday tlie question is: What kind of shop ping center do we want for this Representatives frorri the de veloper for the potential mixed use project 1CI Development Co spent Monday night trying to win over the City support iny a work session dedicated to the issue They unveiled two plans for mixed used development one of which included a four story apart ment complex and another that is all retail The developer seemed to favor the project that included resi dential because it would serve as the anchor for a self contained village Apartments would wrap around a parking structure making them invisible to passers by The units also would be avail able to Kaiser employees offering While council members were im pressed with the concepts for the project they also were quick to pepper ICI with a laundry list of an easy commute Stores such as concerns: coffee shops and restaurants would be built nearby The plan also calls for a big box store to be built with a podium parking structure an at level complex built next to the store that would maximize space throughout the shopping center need to create our own en said Scott Bell presi dent of the company not just a shopping center Between the hospital and us it's like a mini 1 The other alternative could be a project that focuses strictly on shopping but Bell said he thinks some of the parking would have to be sacrificed Target is one of the stores that already has agreed to participate in the plan he said Would the development be im pacted by noise from the freeway? Would it be accessible to public transportation? Would it compete with the city's other shopping centers? Would it create a need for more schools? What about all the traffic? The greatest concern was the project's proposed housing With the inclusion of apart ments council members seemed wary about the po tential to isolate itself from other neighborhoods plus tlie potential health risk caused by its pro ximity to so much traffic Councilwoman Joyce Staros ciak pointed to the Timothy Drive neighborhood as an example Proposed mixed use development at Kaiser site ICI Development Co is looking to develop a 30 acre mixed use project next to the proposed Kaiser Permanente site at the former Albertsons distribution center at Interstate 880 and Marina Boulevard The project could include residential development San Leandro Existing commercial I si i i i Proposed ICI development 'Vv Proposed Azv W'ZaXA staff l5 I ft eeling secure with your mortgage lender competitive rates $1500 on time closing $500 off of closing costs for Citigold5M customers2 professional lending consultants rf IV Now more than ever you need a mortgage lender you can trust Come to and speak with a Lending Consultant Whether you're buying a new home or looking for advice on refinancing adjustable rate mortgage they have the expertise to help you choose the right mortgage Stop by a Citibank branch today or call 888 CITI MTG A A Securing a great mortgage it done mn "Mm rlasino Guarantee If you are purcnaslnj a IwmeCItlMortgage guarantees to close by the date specified In your purchase contract provided that the date at least 30 days' after the application date and the date of your purchase contract It you are refinancing CltiMortgage WanaraMaes to close by the date you request provided that the date Is at least 60 days after the application date If your loan fails to close on time due to a delay by CltiMortgage you will receive a credit towards eloping costs of $1900 for a purchase or S40C I for a ref nance Offer not hi! msnoroved condos residences under construction community lending loans and government loans or for Home Equity loans or lines offered by Citibank NA In Texas the credit may not result in your receiving cash back cost credit To be eligible tor the $500 tnwMd cloXe costs you m2st open or have an existing Cltlgold account and have a mortgage balance greater than $250000 Closing cost credit provided by CltiMortgage Cannot be combined with any offer Offer not available for Homa Equity Loans or lines ottered by Citibank A 2007 products are made available through CltiMortgage inc an equal housing lender CltiMortgage does business as Citicorp Mortgage In NM Citibank and Cltlgold are registered service marks of Citigroup Inc let Oet It Done Is a service mark of Citigroup Inc 'Z yy A 'i a 1 1 injA a A A tZ.
