TELLS OF CONDITIONS tkkxts to anyone wishing to buy ebecks baggage, ami looks after the wants of the traveling public. Conway, Just above us, a town of about 300, has a man for the night train who we are informed sells tickets and looks after the wants of the traveling public.

Lenox, town of about 1200, Creston. has The city of Maryville and her business men should have the very best service possible. They pay the Ilurl- ington system thousands of dollars every year and are entitled to some consideration. If our article has created sufficient interest in the matter of better service at Maryville, then between Bedford and we have accomplished our purpose, man who is on the Job At Other Stations Along the Burling ton Soils Tickets at Kditor J. Clark in his paper, the Bedford Times Republic an.

makes more comments about the Burlington service in Maryville at nights. The article was in reply to the statement as made by Goforth, agent of the Burlington in Maryville. Editor Clark says he did not cise the work of Agent when on duty hut did to conditions as they existed at a time when service was needed. The article follows: In reply to the article we wish to say that we made no criticism ahcut the service rendered by the agent during the time he was supposed to he on duty, but since he has taken the matter up personally and makes statements through the Maryville press which are misleading to the business men of Maryville ami the traveling public, we will endeavor to present a few which ill make his argument look like 15 cents. In the first place states that "no towns between Creston and St Joseph.

even Bedford, Maryville or Savannah. have any one selling at night." This statement goes show that the Maryville agent either wants to deceive the public or else he doesn't know what is being done along the Burlington line or even at his own station when ho is off of duty. Bedford has a man wno goo on duty about 15 and turn, tie lights Inside and outside, sells DR. MONTGOMERY of St. Louis, Mo.

Then again he admits that we were right, on the particular night we mentioned, but states that the was late In getting to tile station, but he fails to tell the public why he failed to turn the lights on when he at 5:30 that evening. Then again he states that this was the first time any riticism was ever heard about the evening service at the Burlington station at Maryville. Now in reference to this statement, we will confess that it might be the first time he ever heard of it From his statement above one would be led to believe that had Just emerged from a long trance and wasn't aware of what was taking place on the Burlington system between Creston and St. Joseph. in making our criticism about the condition at the Burlington station at Maryville we had no intention of casting any reflections on the service of the agent, for we were fully aware ot fact that he was on an schedule and left at and did not return until the next morning While at the station in Maryville wa ting for the train we were informed by Maryville people, who have business transferring trunks and people to the station that it was a common thing to find the same condition as were experienced the night in question.

We have had parties who live at Hopkins call in and ask for copies ontairiing our writeup stating that they were glad to some one tuk up tbe matter of service at the Mary station. Mind you, these partie- were people who visit Maryville to do their trading and would return on light train. Both of these men will make able quarter backs and- are experienced men. In the hack field Coach Ziegler has several old men and a few new men to pick from. Although the back field will not be as heavy as last year, the candidates were running fine interference last night and are a scrappy bunch.

Aley, Cockayne Smith ami Miller can be depended upon in the back field. The team is shy on a punter but Miller can kick the ball a considerable distance and Willoughby is good on place kicks. Ogden has not returned and the team is still without a captain. However, Ogden is expected next week and will be almost assured bis berth at end. other end has not been yet but Dow showed up well last night.

Dow was working on the second string and stopped his man every time lie crossed side of the line. Godsey and Herndon are light hut arc scrapping for a place somewhere on the line. Phipps, Curfman. Bush and Epperson are old men in the line. Roelofson can play center or eixl and will probably get his share of the games.

The team worked out some new formations last night and were able to go ten yards through the second's line every down. The Maryville Spoofhounds may not win championship this year but they will bo scrapping all of the time. They have a good chance of going to the finals and with the addi- 1 tional experience and the return of Captain Ogden it may mean a pen mint. A large number of high school rooters accompanied the team to the College gridiron every night to the practices. Supt.
