JUNE the past week winds have been prevailing (blowing very close to the ground), which culminated into a sand storm yesterday. This morning it is as quiet as Mary's little Grain harvesting is progressing nice ly, and will be finished this week. Cotton and forage crops are looking well, with a good season still in the ground. Cotton chopping will begin in dead earnest this week. Perry Brannon, wife and little daughter, of Memphis, came in last Tuesday, for a visit of a week or two to Will Shotwell and family.

Mr. Brannon is connected with the Frisco railroad. He says Memphis has grown to a veritable sky scraping city, with a population of 200,000 and is the largest cotton market in the United States, having received more cotton last year than New Orleans. (Galveston leads them Ed. Reporter.) Rev.

Mr. Grooms, of Simmons College preached a series of sermons, at Bight last we k. Rev. Mr. Smith delivered a lecture, on socialism at the school house last Saturday night.

Prof. Gatlin of Abilene came out for the socialist lecture, and was the guest of Jno. 8. Brown Saturday night. Wood, and Majors of Abilene, spent several days, visiting Mrs A.

Estes last week. Yesterday was a big day here, it -T being Children's Day. The exercises were under the auspices of the Sunday school. An interesting program was carried out, to the credit of the school Rev. C.

The Reporter is in receipt of a remittance on subscription and an order for copies of the Immigration and Industrial edition from that popular and successful stockman and farmer at Nubia, Sam Butman. Mulberry Canyon has had good good rains and in some parts half the farmers have there crops well underway and cotton chopping will soon be the order of the day. It is hard to tell what the early corn and maize that stood through the dry weather is going to do, but the chances for late fe are good. Our six months school taught by Miss Della Sutphen in the Butman district will close tomorrow. We have had a very successful term. AUSTIN, June 3.

The United States Court today overruled the exceptions to the bill or the United States against the Standard OH Company, and defendants were granted leave to answer the portions of the bill to which exceptions were filed.
