SPORT SIGNALS By Hal Brown Sports Editor, The Star Last Chance To Get Ticket A couple of thoroughbreds with Nebraska backing may get their final chances this weekend to show their owners they deserve a ticket to Louisville, for the May 1 Kentucky Derby. The Ford Stables of Valley and M. H. Van Berg of Columbus have nominated their stars for major events Saturday against Derby-caliber competition and a poor showing likely will end their Derby dreams. The Ford To The Man has been nominated for Gotham Stakes at Aqueduct, a $50,000 nnrile affair that also has a thing called Hoist the Flag entered.

In their last meeting three weeks ago, To The Man finished 16 lengths back of Hoist the Flag in a six-furlong allowance test at Bowie. Van Berg has nominated his Mr. Bum Bum, a bred, to the Arkansas Derby at a mile and an eighth at Oaklawn Park, also on Saturday. Mr. Bum Bum, who has two wins in five starts this year at the Fair Grounds in New Orleans, finished 11th in last Louisiana Derby there.

Tour Available To Derby Speaking of the Kentucky Derby, Nebraska racing fans might be interested in a special tour being offered by Greyhound even if Mr. Bum Bum or To The Man make it there on 1. Greyhound is offeriiig a three-day tour, leaving from Kansas City on April 30 and returning May 2, spending both nights in Vincennes, only a short jaunt from Churchill Downs. The fare is unbelievably low with more details available by contacting your Greyhound Travel Bureau. He had a sixth and an eighth place finish in previous outings at Oaklawn this spring. No Whiteds At Ak-Sar-Ben For the first time in four years there be a Whited riding at this summer.
