DAs Told MILWAUKEE (AP)District attorneys were asked Thursday to take a closer look at consumer fraud potential and supermarket contests which officials said often discriminate against the shopper. Daniel Milian, a state Department of Agriculture attorney, told the midwinter conference of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association that county prosecutors are often lax about enforcing consumer protection laws.

District attorneys, he said, frequently turn complaints over to the Agriculture Department without seeing whether local prosecution is warranted. Jeffrey B. a 11, assistant state attorney general, said chain stores sometimes sponsor contests which comt dost to violating Wisconsin antilottory statutes Bartel! said the attorney office occasionally gets 15 calls a day from district attorneys inquiring about the legality of aome contests.
