Her activitics include the Women's Gire Cluh of which she is president and Associated Women Studenis in which she holds the office of scholarship chairman. Sho is A member nf Sigma Alpha Iota. a woman's national professional music fraternity and WAS recently elected to PI Kappa Lambria, a national honorary music society.

Momhers are usually elected to the latter society in their senior year 1 it is an outstanding honor for A junior to be elected to membership. Silver Wedding Reception At Connor Home Mr. and Mrs. P. F.

Connor of 2623 Walalre held open house Saturday night on the occasion of their twenty-fifth wedding and more than 125 guests, including Mr. and Mrs. George Warner of Wehster Groves. And Mr. and Mrs.

Kenneth Scarles of Jerseyville, called to extend best wishes. The house was decorated with flowers, including gifts sent to the couple. Miss Helen Swoboda And Mrs. John Tueth were In charge of the guest book. The refreshment table was laid with a white damask cloth centered with red roses in A silver and crystal bowl.

The roses' were flanked by white tapers in silver candelabra. Mrs. William Barnard and Mrs. Frank Wetstein poured, and 1 Miss Nellie M. Howell cut and served a three tier wedding cake.

Mrs. Al Schwegel, Miss Dorothy Budde, Mrs. Sophia Horat and Mrs. Harry Wetstein assisted in the dining room which was candle-lighted. daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. George J. Smith, 1510 Main was graduated from St. Luke's Hospital School of Nursing, St. Louis; Thursday night, May 20.

Exercises were held in Westminster Presbyterian Church, St. Louis. Miss Smith was one of 41 students making up the graduating class, MISS SMITH. Miss Georgia Lee Smith, Vanausdoll-Harmon Marriage Saturday of Ruth Harmon became Ruby Harmon, daughter the bride of Tin Vanausdoll, son of Otis Vanausdoll in a single ring ceremony at 7 o'clock Saturday night in the Methodist Church at Grafton. The Rev.

Robert Brown officiated and the sanctuary was decorated with palms and bouquets of spring flowers and the tapers in candelabra were lighted by Miss June Skeens and Miss Louise Hayes. Mrs. Robert Brown, organist, played pre-nuptial music and accompanied Mrs. Kathryn Hedgecoe who sang "I Love You Truly," and "'The Lord's Prayer." The bride, given in marriage by her uncle. Gerald Narup, had her sister, Mrs.

Myrtle O'Neil of Venice as matron of honor. Raymond Vanausdoll, brother of the groom, was best man. The bride appeared in a bal. lerina length gown 'of white net over satin. Rows of ruffles trimmed the bouffant skirt and strapless bodice which had a matching stole.

She wore a headband of tulle. The bride carried a bouquet of white roses arranged with showers of ivy and satin ribbons: Mrs. O'Neil wore a blue frock of net over satin with a ballerina length skirt, and 8 matching stole. She carried pink roses and had a matching headpiece. Mrs.

Harmon entertained with a reception at her home immediately following the ceremony. The couple will reside in the Rippley apartments, Grafton. Vanausdoll served three years in the armed forces in Germany and Korea. He attended Grafton schools and is ployed by Illinois Powder Co. Miss Hendricks Honored at Shower Miss Marilyn Hendricks was guest at a shower given day by Mrs.

Wilford Suessen of Bethalto and Mrs. Bernard Hufker at the Hufker home in Moro. Young Adults Class Install Officers Young Adults Class of Cherry Street Baptist Church held a dinner Saturday night in the social room of the church.

"Tatier" Signing Party Monday Night Kenneth Prewitt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Prewitt, 760 Washington was host Monday night to members of Alton Senior High School graduating class at a "Tatler" signing party. More than 200 senior class members attended, and were seated at candle-light tables on the lawn and porch. Refreshments were served during the evening.

Miss Pegry Clayton Honored at Party Mrs. Lynn Beiser, 1508 Highland entertained with a party Monday night honoring Miss Peggy Clayton, fiancee of Airman First Class Donald L. Stafford, who is stationed at Mitchel Air Force Base, Hempstead, N. Y. The couple will be married June 18 in Cherry Street Baptist Church.

The dining room table was decorated to represent a rose garden. A pool centered the table encircled with deep. red roses, paths were formed of sand and rocks, and a fish bowl was at one end of the table. Letter Carriers Auxiliary Meeting Auxiliary to the National Association of Letter Carriers will meet at 6 o'clock tonight at the American Legion.

Hall, Sixth and George streets. The meeting is being, held in conjunction with the Postmen's Walk for Cerebral Palsy, and, with the Jaycees, the auxiliary will give a party for the men at 9 o'clock. The state convention of the NALC will be held May 28 and 29 in Rockford, and delegates from the auxiliary will be Mrs. Robert Kehr and Mrs. Luther McCoy.

Personal Notes Sister Frances of the Order of St. John the Divine, Toronto, Canada, is visiting Percy Rice and Miss Lillian Rice of 330 Bluff and Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Rice of 220 East Seventh St. She is a sister of Percy, Edgar and Miss Lillian Rice.

Harrison March, 2504 Hardy have returned from Springfield where they attended a meeting of the American War Dads and Auxiliary Council. Plans were discussed for the American War Dads and Auxiliary convention to be held in Jacksonville July 24-25. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Larkins of Newport Richey, formerly of Alton, are in Alton for a six weeks' stay, and are staying with Mrs.

Frank Johnson on Victory street. Mrs. Larkins was active in the American Legion Auxiliary while in Alton, and when she returned earlier in the month brought 250 dozen poppies which she made and which will be sold by the American Legion. Miss Margaret Berigan has returned from Norfolk, where she visited her brother-in-law and sister, Chief and Mrs. F.

J. Alles. While in the east she was present when her sevenyear-old niece, Judith Alles, received her First Holy Communion. Miss Berigan's brother, Francis M. Berigan, on a ship in the South Pacific, is being advanced from engineer first class to chief petty officer, and will receive his chief's cap June 16.

Mr. and Mrs. Connoyer Honored on Anniversary Mr. and Mrs. Edward Connoyer of 603 Washington was honored Sunday with a lawn party at the home of their son and daughter-in-law, Mr.

With the exception of Thomas the sons and daughters live in Alton. Miss Eunice Sheley To Graduate Saturday St. Charles, Eunice Sheley, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert N. Sheley, formerly of Alton and now of Toledo, 0., is among the seniors at Lindenwood College here who will receive degrees at the 1271h annual commencement exercises at 10:30 a.m.

Saturday, A speech major with minors in English and lion, Miss Sheley will receive the bachelor of arts degree. Miss Sheley's parents will attend the commencement ties, a as will her sister, Miss Harriet Sheley, junior in Alton High School. Judge Florence E. Allen of Cleveland, judge of the United States Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit, will give the commencement address. The Rev.

Dr. C. Raiston Smith, pastor. of the First Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City, will give the baccalaureate sermon at 7 p.m. Friday.

As has been previously announced, Miss Sheley will be married in Alton on June 26 to Harry Spindler of Grand Marsh, graduate student In Syracuse University, who this summer will start in a position with the state government in Madison, where the young couple will live. Lowe Zumwalt Wedding Sunday Afternoon The wedding of Miss Edith Zumwalt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert L. Zumwalt of Route 1, Humbert road, and Milton R. Lowe, son of Mr.

and Mrs. Charles J. Lowe, 1305 Godfrey took place at 4 o'clock Sunday afternoon in the Congregational Church, Sixth and Henry streets, with the Rev. George Millard officiating at the double ring ceremony. The bride, given in marriage by her father, wore a gown of lace and tulle over taffeta with A long sleeved lace bodice designed with a scoop neckline edged in scallops.

The full waltz length skirt was edged in scallops. A Juliet hat edged with satin and trimmed with seed pearls, held the bride's chapel length veil. She carried a bouquet of white roses and lilies of the valley centered with a detachable corsage. Her pearl necklace and carrings were gifts from the bridegroom. Miss Shirley Zumwalt, maid of honor, appeared in a pink frock and carried a bouquet of red roses, Mrs.

Milford (Almeda) Bowker, sister of the bridegroom, wore lime green and had yellow flowers, and Mrs. Louise Lowe, sister-inlaw of the bridegroom, appeared in orchid and her flowers were yellow. The attendants' dresses were of net over taffeta and were made with lace jackets. They wore bands of flowers in their hair. Miss Carole Ann Zumwalt, sister of the bride, flower girl.

wore a white organdy frock trimmed with pink ribbons and wore A pink headdress and carried pink petals in a small basket. Michael Zumwalt, brother of the bride, was ring-bearer, Charles W. and Mrs. Epsilon Sigma Alpha Sorority had its annual spring dinner and ritual of jewels ceremonial at Selhime's Monday night. The table appointments were in blue the party, theme.
