Utah. Capt. Hungerford, a resident of Bryans Road. was flying an F-100 Super Saber Jet fighter when it crashed because of enfailure. He was a veteran of 100 missions over enemy territory in the Korean conflict and was awarded the Air Medal there.

A graduate of Lackey High School in Indian Head. Capt. Hungerford attended Gonzaga High School for one year before going to Washington College, Chestertown, Md. He was a member of Kappa Alpha Fraternity in college. Capt.

Hungerford was a member of St. Mary's Star of the Sea Catholic Church in Indian Head. He joined the Air Force in 1949 and was stationed at Foster Air Force Base, Victoria, at the time of his death. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday in St.

Counselman, Builder Ex-Master of Potomac Hunt Ralph Paul Counselman, 56, former owner of a slaughter house here, who was a builder and horseman in Potomac, died yesterday in Daytona Beach, Fla. Mr. Counselman had lived there for the last five years since his retirement. A native of Georgetown, he began his career in the old Center Market, working first with his late brother, Lowe. His father, the late Benjamin Samuel Counselman, at one time had a slaughter house in Bethesda.

Counselman helped develop the Potomac shopping center. Counselman lane in Po- tomac is named after him. He was a former master of the hunt at Potomac and also had show horses. Mr. Counselman continued his interest in building in Florida, constructing homes in Daytona.

He is survived by his widow, the former Louise Arnold; his daughter, Mrs. Dorothy Lee Thomas; an adopted son, Benny, 11, and three grandchildren all of Daytona Beach; two brothers, Earl of Daytona Beach, and Lee, of Gaithersburg, and a sister, Mrs. Mary Gilbert, 4845 Del Ray avenue, Bethesda, Md. Mass will be sung tomorrow in Daytona Beach, with burial there. Dr.

Ralph Barton Perry, Winner of Pulitzer Prize CAMBRIDGE, Jan. 23 P). -Dr. Ralph Barton Perry, professor emeritus of philosophy at Harvard University and a Pulitzer Prize winner, died in his sleep yesterday. He was 80.

A Poultney, and a graduate of Princeton, he joined the Harvard faculty in 1902 after receiving his Ph.D. there three years earlier. Dr. Perry won the Prize in 1935 for a biography, "The Thought and Character of William James." During World War I he served as an Army major, he served as secretary of the War Department Committee on Education and Special Training. France awarded him the Chevalier Legion of Honor in 1936.

Dr. Perry was presented with honorary degrees by Princeton, Clark College, the University of Pennsylvania and Harvard. He retired several years ago. Dr. Perry is survived by two In Memoriant DORSEY.

BROOKS. J. S. Walsmith, 77, Washington Post Employe 53 Years Joseph Scott Walsmith, 77, a proofreader for the Washington Post for 53 years, died after a heart attack yesterday at his home, 900 Longfellow street N.W. He had worked for the Post longer than any other employe.

Golf was among his hobbieshe held a medal for a hole-inone he shot at Rock Creek Golf Course- with fishing and chess. For many years he was on the Post bowling team. At 73, Mr. Walsmith who had traveled throughout the United his daughter, who Scotland was on a FulStates, flew to to visit bright scholarship there, toured country and England, and wrote some verse in the style of Robert Burns. The Post composing room stopped work briefly on February 4, 1954, to pay tribute to Mr.

Walsmith on his 50th anniversary by presenting him with a wristwatch and an engraved silver tray. He was a member of the Brightwood Citizens Association and had been a member of the Columbia Typographical Union 101 since 1901.0 Walsmith is survived by his widow the home address, daughter, Retta W. Dillon, a District public school teacher, also of the home address, and two sons, Capt. Comdr. John Wise 81, USN, of Supply the Corps (retired)', caveteran and of World Spanish-Ameri- War died Monday of a heart attack in his apartment at the Sheraton-Park Hotel. A graduate of the Naval Acadery in the class of 1897, Comdr. Morse was a native of Marlboro, After service in the SpanishAmerican War, he served aboard the USS Wilmington when that ship cruised 2,400 miles up the Amazon River. Services will be held at Fort Myer Chapel at 11 a.m. Friday. Burial will be in Arlington Cemetery. Air Tanker Missing With Seven Aboard WESTOVER AIR FORCE BASE, Jan. 23 Air Force today reported a KC97 refueling tanker missing with seven men aboard.

An officer at Westover Air Force Base said the plane was long overdue on a refueling training mission from Westover to Griffiss Air Force Base near Utica, N. Y. The plane left Westover at 1:30 p.m. yesterday and was last reported at 8 o'clock last 1 night in the vicinity of Griffiss AFB. The Air Force said the plane was experiencing radio difficulty at that time.

At Griffiss the public information officer said at 6 a.m. that no word had been heard from the plane. The plane had taken off with enough fuel for 12 hours of flying. Even before the 12th hour had elapsed, the Air Force began making thorough checks to ascertain if the plane possibly landed at a field other than Griffiss. All seven men aboard the refueling tanker are stationed at Westover.

Their names were withheld by the Air Force. John L. Boucher, 64, Maryland Court Crier ANNAPOLIS, Jan. 23 John L. Boucher, 64-year-old crier for the Maryland Court of Appeals, died of a heart attack last night at his home here.

A native of Annapolis, he had been court crier 1940 when he succeeded his father, William Boucher, who died after 65 years of service to the high court. Services will be Saturday morning at St. Mary's Catholic Church. James J. Hughes, Ex-Proofreader For GPO Branch James Joseph Hughes, 65, retired proofreader for the Library of Congress Branch of the Government Printing Office, died yesterday of a cerebral hemorrhage at Washington Sanitarium.

Mr. Hughes had been a member of Columbia Typographical Union No. 101 for 40 years. He learned his trade on the old Washington Herald, also worked on the Daily News here and was a printer on the New York Times before going with the Government. He retired in May, 1955, after 30 years' service.

A native of Washington, he lived at 13500 Grenoble drive, Rockville, Md. He was a resident of Silver Spring for 30 years before moving to Rockville two years ago. A veteran of overseas service with the Army during World War 1, Mr. Hughes was a member of Cissel Saxon Post of the American Legion. He is survived by his widow, Mrs.

Louise Hunter Hughes, and a daughter, Miss Frances Louise Hughes, both of the home address. 23 Insurance Commissioner Oliver P. Bennett, 64, completely cleared of charges of petty larceny and resisting an officer, said today he does not plan legal action in connection with his arrest. Municipal Judge Ray Harrison yesterday afternoon found Mr. Bennett not guilty of shoplifting a 67-cent tube of hair cream from a downtown drugstore. He said charges should never have been filed.

"There is not one iota of evidence that would warrant anything other than a not guilty verdict on both charges," Judge Harrison said. and Mrs. Charles Pizinger, operators 'of the City Drug who caused Mr. Bennet's arrest, testified they had made rible mistake" in telling "police Mr. Bennett had not paid for the hair cream.
