The meeting was the second largest of the year and the election of the various officials of the post occasioned considerable interest. Dr. Rodgers is a well known local physician. He is president of the Morehouse Medical society and is former president of the Bastrop Kiwanis club. John M.

Coats selected post service officer by a large majority. He is now serving as parish service officer under appointment of the police jury. He was recommended to the police jury by the executive committee of the Lrgion. Immediately after the speaking a dance was held in the spacious ballroom of the new building.

Crowds from all over this section of the state were present. The community center will shortly be furnished in the various rooms of the building and used regularly by the legion and auxiliary and for other social affairs. All the leading insurance companies doing business at Bernice, it was said, have threatened to cancel the policies in effect there unless the town provides some sort cf protection.

Marshall, representing the Louisiana fire rating and fire prevention bureau.
