Do you? They are not make believe words, or names of strange plants, or even great kings in ancient times. They are foods from foreign countries around the world, 4-H'ers in Maryland enrolled in the food and nutrition project can tell you what they are, where they come from, how to make them and when to serve them. They can also tell you all about the countries of origin, from their customs to their histories. 4-H members enrolled in this exciting and new food project share some of their favorite recipes.

BLANDAD FRUKTSOPPA (Mixed Fruit Soup) (Sweden) two-thirds cup dried apricots two-thirds cup dried prunes 6 cups water 1 stick cinnamon 2 lemon slices 2 tablespoon quick cooking tapioca cup sugar 2 tablespoon raisins 1 apple, peeled and sliced GOALGOCLA (Indian Fritters) (India) 3 tablespoons flour boiling water 4 egg yolks, beaten 4 egg whites, beaten stiff hot vegetable shortening preserves or marmalade Put flour in bowl. Pour enough boiling water over flour to make a thick paste. Stir well and do not let mixture get lumpy. Cool. Add beaten egg yolks, fold in whites and mix well.

Drop from a tablespoon into boiling hot fat. Fry until brown. Serve with preserves or mar- GRILLED EGGPLANT Cut unpared eggplant into 3 A- inch slices. Brush both sides of slices with salad oil, then coat with packaged seasoned bread crumbs. malade by dropping a spoonful into each fritter.
