Former Area Woman's Husband Shot An Arizona man is being held ii; a Coconino County, Arizona jail charged with the murder of a former Herrin resident's husband, actor Wesley Hudman. Hudman, 50, of Williams, Ariz was shot in the neck Feb. 2S while working at his rock quarry near Drake. His wife 13 the former Jade Smith of Herrin. Her brother is W. L. Smith of Herrin. Also an actress, Mrs. Hud-man's stage name is Jade Rhodera. Coconino county officials said Vernon Oliver Martin, 50, had admitted the murder. They said Martin felt Hudman was building a road to his copper mine, although no copper mines are in the area. Hudman was dead when the county officials arrived. Hudman was the cowboy "Marlboro man" in television commercials. He also appeared in the television programs, Bonanza, Wyatt Earp, Bat Master-son, Death Valley Days, Rawhide, Fury and Highway Patrol. He leaves his wife; a daughter Crystal and son Rio, who live near Palm Springs, Calif.; his mother, Mrs. Carrie Hudman of White Plains, N. Y. ; brothers, Lloyd of Los Angeles, Calif.; and Vernon of Louisiana; and sisters, Thora Cole and Mrs. Ruby Loff, both of New York. Funeral services were at Gibbs Mortuary Chapel, Williams. POLICE BRIEFS Marion; Nelson McCormick, Mt. Vernon, fined $15 for speeding in Circuit Court on state ticket.
