today st the Schaack Funeral Home in SteeleviUe. Nebraska Paralyzed Snow Omaha, Feb. 12 (AP) Eastern Nebraska struggled to free itself today from an immobilizing 20-inch snow that proved a traveler's nightmare. Bright sunlight sparkled on drifts stacked by the wind during the night as a National Guard task force bulled through to some 60 stranded motorists at an Interstate highway weighing station between Omaha and Lincoln. Some had been there nearly 30 hours.

The Guard trucks, behind a snow plow, also picked up people stranded in cars and trucks along the road or in farm houses. In Lincoln, train travelers- including the University of Colorado basketball team carried their own bags and walked. There were no taxis running and city buses had been out of operation since noon Thursday. The Colorado players, in Lin coln for a game, trudged nine blocks through snowy streets to heir hotel. Some Lincoln businesses de- ayed opening.

Omaha schools remained closed. Travel was possible, but rough, on the 60-mile Interstate highway link between Omaha and Lincoln. Plows were beginning to open a few roads else where. A 30-mile-an-hour wind made plowing futile during the night but did not reach blizzard pro portions forecast earlier. The temperature dropped to 13 be low zero in the northern part of the state, but remained above zero in most of the storm-hit area.

At Crete. 25 miles southwest of Lincoln, the snow blanket was 23 inches deep. Lincoln had between 20 and 22 inches, a record for the city, Omaha's I8V2 inches was less than half an inch under the city's 24-hour snowfall record set in 1923. The storm tied up virtually every east Nebraska city. Lincoln resembled a ghost town Thursday as the city's stores didn't bother to open and city and county offices closed.

At the Capitol the legislature was shy 11 members and little business was done. CARTERVILLE MAN DIES IN DU QUOIN Arch Adams, 90, of 505 E.
