The Carnegie Tech football eleven of Pittsburgh, lived up to its reputation as a scrappy, light team, in its contest with the Cornell University aggregation on Sehoelkopf Field here today. The final score was 15 to 7 in Cornell's favor. Before the game there was much talk about how weak and demoralized Cornell was. Several of its veterans were out of the game for one reason or another and Shiverick, its bjg staar, did not start.

One report was that Coach Al Sharpe of Cornell, in an attempt to rouse his players to fighting edge, before the game offered to bet any man on the squad that Tech would emerge victorious. In the face of this, it must "be said that Cornell has some very good second-string- material, for It played a hard game today and showed scoring! power. 2int (rr- Pitt Listlessly Rolls Up Field, Using Many One of By FLORENT GIBSON. THERE no use talking, Pitt and the populace is too darn critical. The Panthers have been feeding Hon. General Publie too much raw meat. That's why, when a mess of pottage is served at Forbes Field, the citizenry, who fill Forbes Field to ths bursting point on meat days, yawn, roll over, sniff with a sarcastic nose and stay away.

This lethargy over the ea3y ones is manifested quite as much by the college boys and girls as well as those who pay to see the game. Consequently Pitt drilled a few drills at at water polo with the Allegheny college lads on the Oakland lot to yawning stands, winning by a 46 to 0 score in a sort of sleepy, casual manner, with no one to take it calns i Neither side scored in the second period Sr lett th7fleln -ln fln half with the score 7 to 0 in Cornell's favor. Sunny Kesner. the Tech quarter- back, missed a try for a field goal, the ball going Wide. The score was deadlocked early in the third period.

McFeaters. Tech's left tackle, received the kick-off which started piay ana ran oack 14 yards into the 39-yard line. A series of line plays, with a 20-yard end run bv Kesner, sandwiched Jn between, gave Tech a first down on the 33-yard line and on the next play. Phil Marshall, the left half-back, tore away for a run around right end to a touchdown. Kesner kicked goal and the count stood 7-7.

A little later, Tech held Cornell for downs on the 18-yard line and after receiving the ball, attempted to kick out of the danger gone. The ball was slippery and the snap-back to right was poor. The ball rolled over the goal line and Wright fell on it for a safety, making the ecore 9-7 in Cornell's favor. CORNELL'S FINAL RALLY. In the final Cornell recovered a fumble by Kesner on the Ithacans 15-yard line and swept gradually down the field for the final points.

Shiverick also tried a drop-kick from pear jnldfleld, but Cornell fared a trifle worse than Tech Tn the matter of getting the breaks. The first half ended with the 'ball in Cornell's possession wluh two downs to go on the five-yard line and time was called at the end of the final period with the ball on the nine-yard line and two downs to o. Cornell appeared certain to score each time. Quarterback Sunny Kesner was Tech's most prominent star. His Jong end runs and the manner in which he followed his Interference and picked out holes, proved to be an eye-opener to the spectators.

They applauded and cheered his playing almost as much as they did any brilliant efforts by the Cornell men. Next to Kesner in the spotlight line was Marshall. His run for Tech's only touchdown was not the only good work he performed during the game. Altdoerffer, the fullback, who had been ill or injured during most of the season to date, was back in harness and played the full game in good style. Nig Finlay also did his share in the backfleld.

No substitution were made in the Pittsburghers" backfleld at wny time in the frame. The Tech line played the game right up the handle and deserves much of the credit for the good showing, the work being good, tooth on offense and defense. The Tech party left Ithaca at 7:30 o'clock tonight, and will arrive at the Pittsburgh Take Erie station in Pittsburgh at 7 o'clock tomorrow morning. Some of the players will drop off at Buffalo and go to their homes at different points in Ohio, while Coach Steff en will yo direct to Chicago to vote. Tuesday.

Pretty nearly every chap on the team got a chance to roll around in intimate contact with the Methodists and the mud yesterday, and it must be said that the subs went Just about as far and as far as the regulars. The only ones who can recall who were not in the lineup were big Kendall Soppitt, who has played his last football game and sacrificed a for the football glory of Pitt, and McLaren, the old Peabody star, who didn't show at fullback at all.
