Until the earner is able to resume his duties, we shall leave a number of copies of the paper at the Toll House, north end of the old Allegheny Bridge, and at the Drug Store of Mr. Mitchell, on Federal street, below the Diamond. Subscribers, by calling at either of these places, will find the paper, early in the morning of its publication. PRESIDKKT'S MESSAUE. For the accommodation of a large number of our subscribers, who regularly file and bind the Post we have published the President's Message in full on the outside of to-day's paper.

Our extra of Wed nesday night, containing the Message, was not nade up in the proper fom or binding. The Late Whlg Party." We bale already advised our readers of the fact that the Whig" party has ceased to exist, and that a new party, called the Taylor Republicans," has taken its place. We are aware that a large number of the old federal whig editors and politicians, are violently opposed to this new organization but the will be compelled, eventually, to yield their consent Our neighbor of the Cazettc, we observe, is opposed to Taylor Republican Associations but his io nueiise amounts to little or nothing, and is a very marketable commodity. Those who remember with what ease he was induced, for a consideration, to support Mr. Clt in 1S44 a inanwhoinhe hailjpres ously denounced as a Slaveholder, and an enemy to the Tariff; and more recently, with what xeal he employed his pen in advocating the election of Gen Taylor may readily conclude that his opposition to the name of" Taylor Republican," will not be very formidable.

Hear the Cazette "Although, as we said before, we do not under stand the exact design ot this movement, and have not been made acquainted with the motives which have originated it, yet we must enter our protest against any measure which appears to be calculated in its nature to weaken the influence and eibeiency if not destroy altogether, the glorious Whig party with which it has bees our pride and pleasure to be associated lor so many years. Any movement designed to change the name. or any of the great and leading principles of the Big party, to be successful, must disband the pres ent effective organization, and scatter lis elemen to the) winds thus wantonly throwing away the Herculean labor ot years, and ruthlessly destroy ing as fair a political fabric as has ever been reared in the country. Why, then, disturb the harmony of existing re lations especially just as the public mind has be come acquainted with Whig principles, and has been disabused ot long and embittered prejudices What good can it do hat object of general welfare will be effected by it Will it not throw ns back for years, and compel us to commence the work of building up a national conservative party, favorabl to sate social progress, over again The harmony of existing relations Well that is nice The public mind has become ac quainted with whig principles," says the editor of the Gazette. Wilt he be good enough to mak known to the public mind," the component parts of what he is pleased to term whig principles And will he also inform "the public mind," what set of whig principles" triumphed ia the electio of Gen.

Taylor The fact is notorious, that General Taylor was supported by men of all parties, because he repeat edly declared that ia no event would he permit him elf to be the candidate of a party, or carry out par views. He accepted of all the ominations leadere him first the Natives, next the Whigs, next the South Carolina Slaveholding Democrats; and finally he declared that he would gladly have accepted of the nomination of the Baltimore Democratic Convention, npon the same terms as the Philadelphia Whig Convention, to wit ithout any pledges be. ing required of him. The New York Mirror, the original Taylor paper of the North, inserts, with approval, a vVathiugton letter, from which we quote a few sentences It is admitted, I believe, by all except very rabid wbigs, that in the election of General Taylor to the Presidency, the principles of the whig party have been abandoned; and, consequently, the result cannot be claimed as a whig victory." Most people here say the Intelligencer will be the official paper. I say not.

If General Taylor makes the Intelligencer his official organ, he is damned beyond redemption He identities himself with proscription, national banks, protective tariffs, and all the political curses that have ever impeded the prosperity of our country. He violates his price of lij et. No. Hi Market si. MA HON A CO.

of Washington, in connection with the post. Mr. Cooper is also spoken of by his ftiends. Thaddeus Stevens has been looked upon as a prominent candidate, but the West Chester Republican suggests an insuperable obstacle to his election. That paper states that the Senate has contracted an improper habit of holding ferret sessions, after the fashion of the Masonic Lodges, and of course Mr.

Stevens could not consistently attend them. This puts an end to his ambitions longings. We believe the defendant intends moving the Court for a new trial, when the effect that nil-provement have on parol lease imy be determined. tlT" The editor of the Wellsvillc Ps triot visited Pittsburgh a few days ago, and after bis return, wrote a notice of his Irip.

He tells us aJioiil what he saw. Alter noticing Smith Sinclair Wholesale Grocery, he proceeds to call attention to a new establishment, winch is lately been started in Market street, between Front and Water: There are Asmstono Cnozrca, commission and forwarding merchants, No. 22, Market atreet. The gentlemen composing this firm, but a tew months ago, were citizens of Wellsville and are now ia the daily receipt of hundreds and tliouexndg of pounds of pork and other produce, from this nfOhto; and judging from appearances, their business is second to none in the city. As business men they are too well known in this community f) need even a complimentary remark from us; sutnc it to say, however, that those who entrust them will, the sale of produce, may confidently rely upon the very best results." sVjT The attention of our lady readers is called to the card of Mrs.

Doff, which is published iu this morning's Post. Shu has made complete arrangements with an agent in New York, and is thus enabled to compete with the trade of our city, successfully. Her order work is gotten op in the very best style. Her employees, are tho most skillful that the city affords. The ladies of this city are invited to call and see her stock.

SST We invite the attention of clothiers and dry goods dealers to the extensive sale advertised to take place, by John D. Davis, Auctioneer, at Mc Fadden's Warehouse, on Tuesday morning, 12th inst. The goods are now open for examination, and each piece so numbered as to enable every person to kmae their selection, previous to sale. This is the birth day of Franklin and the Printers of this city have made no arrangements for celebrating it. Not so io Clevaland for there is a supper be to served up at -the New England House, this evening.

4 kind nice. Wk the is ing, pledge, and becomes an ultra yes, worse than an I nltra a British Whig." We commend these extracts to the especial at- tention of our ultra whig" neighbor of the Ga- -sette. One thing is now evident: Gen. Taylor will have trouble enough before he is in Washington city many months. His administration, we sincerely believe, will be a perfect failure.

Whatever course he adopts, be will disappoint a large portion of his supporters. If he comes out an "ultra whig" a High Tariff, National Bank, Internal Improvement Whig and selects the National Intelligencer as his organ, he will certainly, as the Mirror says, be damned beyond REDEMPTION On the contrary, if be attempts to break down party, and appoint Democrats, as well as Whigs, to office, he will have more curses and maledictions showered upon his head, than ever John Tyler endured Either way he turns, he wilt encounter rocks and breakers. Scylla and Charybdis will stare him in the face, whichever course he may steer. This Government can never be successfully administered, unless upon the pure and honest principles of the Democratic Party. History and experience prove me trrjto oi this assertion.

M'Clellaad'a Visit to Wllmst. The Hon. David Wilrnot has published a card ove his own signature, in the last Bradford Reporter, in which, he denies, most emphatically, that the visit of the Hon. Robert M'Cleilaod, of Michigan, to Bradford, hefnre the late Presidential election, had any thin dishonorable connected with it. Mr.

Wil rnot says He saiJ nothing in any interview he had with me, which any friend might not with propriety say to soother, and to which an honorable man might not listen without havingause for offence. I know Mr. M'Clelland intimately and well. He is an honorable, high-minded man; one who would resort to nothing improper, for the advancement of himself, or to scu-c the election to the Presidency of his distinguished friend." It is a little strange, that this statement or Mr. Wilrnot has been kept back so long.
