ENROLLMENT INCREASfNG One hundred thousand children of the Pittsburgh schools will today ehout defiance to hot weather, for what do they care about the weather when school la over for the ummer. There wlll.be nothing for them to do until August 31, when the next school term begins. With tho' pupils 2,600 teachera will walk out to abandon themselves to the joys and the rest of the summer vacation.

The last day of school will not be marked by any ceremony, other than the graduating exercises which only Involve a low percentage of the thousands who will immediately plunge into the freedom that vacation means to the juveniles. The number enrolled in the Pitts-burgrh schools grew rapidly during th term just The actual enrollment on June 1 showed and on the same date In 1313 there were 78.t enrolled, more than 20,000 Increase. The increase is attributed largely to the night schools which have made tremendous strides In the past year. This couree has no age limit except a minimum of 14 years, which the law Ilxes In the employment of children, the night schools beins largely devoted to those who are tmployod during the day. SUMMER SCHOOLS.

During the interim a six-week3 term of "summer school will be held under the immediate direction of Prof. J. M. Berkey, director of special school work. This school was arranged on the request of seventh ai.d eighth grade high school pulpils, who wish to advance themselves during vacation time.

From the graded schools 635 have applied and from tlm high schools 600. The number ia increasing daily. The term will begin July, 6 and the following bul dings have been assigned: Highland, Fifth Avenue and Central with Peabody and Ralston as annexes for assigned classes for high schools; for grammar schools. Fast End district, Friendship; Oakland district. Holmes; Central district, Grant; Southeide district, South High; Northside district, Allegheny High.

Teachers will be assigned as the enrollment Miss MciDer-mott will conduct a summer school in household economy which with the spe- al prepar tory term will be the only etructlon in the local schools during the vacation period. The number qualifying for high school for the next term, 1.900 is a record-breaker and Superintendent William M. Davidson will be required to lind accommodations for about more pupils that are receiving high school training at present. High school classes will be held In 12 buildings.
