Several Possible Seen if Reorganization Is Effected. Ml the Associated Press. There la some speculation In the Capital as to whether President Roosevelt might appoint a woman to the Supreme Court If Congress permits him to reorganize the high tribunal. The President has given no indication of his intentions, one way or the Other. Advocates assert, however, there would be no constitutional barrier to such an appointment.

The President already has drawn on ranks for judicial appointments to a greater extent than any other Chief Executive. He named Florence Ellinwood Allen to the United States Circuit Court of Appeals in the sixth district, the highest court place ever given a woman in this country. He also appointed Ellen K. Raedy municipal judge and Fay L. Bentley juvenile judge for the District of Columbia.

Judge Allen a Peace Crusader. Judge name usually is the first mentioned in discussions of possible selections. She is 52 and unmarried, now living at Columbus, Ohio. She was widely known In suffrage and peace groups as a speaker, prior to becoming the first feminine Federal judge. Her judicial experience has covered varied fields.

She served In a local court at Cleveland before her appointment to the Ohio Supreme Court in 1922. Another leader among women who have had experience on the bench is Judge Genevieve R. Cline of the United States Customs Court in New York. Also an Ohioan, she was appointed appraiser of merchandise at Cleveland by President Harding In 1922. President Coolidge appointed her to her present place in 1928.

One lawyer here has estimated there are less than 50 women in judicial jobs throughout the country. Women's Groups Silent. No national women's group has petitioned as yet for the appointment of a woman to the supreme bench. The General Federation of Clubs has just begun, however, a poll of its more than 2,000,000 members to determine their sentiment on the President's proposed reorganization of the Supreme Court. No reference was made by the federation to the sex of possible appointees.
