He was preceded in death by a brother, Dale Edward Wilson; and two sisters, Virginia Evelyn Hinderer and Edith Lucille Trautman. Memorial services will begin at 4 p.m.

June 23 at the Shawnee Chapel of ChilesLaman Funeral Homes. The Rev. Mark Vernick will officiate. The body will be cremated before the service. Burial will be in East Townsend Cemetery.

Friends may call from 3 to 04 p.m. June 23 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hilty Memorial rectional Institution and Erie Lackawanna-Conrail Railroad. He was a member of St. Gerard Catholic Church and the Fraternal Order of Eagles Aerie 370, Lima.

He served in the Navy during World War II and the Korean War. He enjoyed golfing and car races. He was an avid motorcycle enthusiast who rode for more than 40 years. He was a member of the Lima Motorcycle Club and had served as its treasurer. Survivors also include a daughter, Louise (Larry) Sassi, of Lima; two sons, Steven J.

(Cheryl) Sroufe, of Pickerington, and James H. (Kimberly) Sroufe, of Lima; a sister, Edith Briggs, of Lima; and nine grandchildren and nine greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by a brother-in-law, Bill Briggs; brother, John "Bud" Mester; and a sister, Elizabeth Mester. A memorial service will be held later. Friends may call from 2 to 7 p.m.

Wapakoneta, ESTELLA M. RIDENOUR, 91, died at 2:38 p.m., June 1, 2007, at Wa- Hilty Memorial Wapakoneta, BETTY L. TESTER, 87, died at 10:30 a.m. June 1, 2007, pakoneta Manor. She was born June 21, 1915, in Mercer County to David K.

and Alice G. Hole, who preceded her in death. On Oct. 11, 1930, she married David S. Ridenour, who died Feb.

4, 1996. Mrs. Ridenour retired from Greggs Inc. in 1978, and before that she worked as a spinner at Lima Woolen Mills. She was a life member of Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 8445 Auxiliary, Wapakoneta, and VFW National Home.

She was a member of Wapakoneta Senior Citizens. Survivors include a daughterin-law, Lois (Karl) Ruck, of Wapakoneta; two grandchildren, Michael (Mary), Ruck and Beth (Mark) Gregor; four greatgrandchildren, Amanda Wise, Tara Wise, Heather Ruck, and Jacob Ruck; five nieces, Betty Folk, of Buckland, Nellie Montgomery, of Wapakoneta, Alice May Minkner, of Wapakoneta, June Holtzapple, of Buckland, and Jean (Eldon) Bowsher, of Wapakoneta; and two nephews, Robert (Betty) Lietz, of Wapakoneta, and Richard (Ellie) Hole, of Cleveland. She was preceded in death by a son, Thomas K. Ridenour; three sisters, Lettie Naumberg, Goldie Lietz Waldo, and Carrie Hole; and two brothers, Fred and Joseph Hole. Services will begin at 10:30 a.m.

At the chapter's first meeting in 1907, Emily Nelson Ritchie McLean, president general of the national DAR, greeted the membership to the national fold, with Claira Ohler offering the DAR from B1- July celebration." Members also were given credit for placing the first flag over Lima's Memorial Hall, in the Lima Public Library, at the Children's Home, and the Elks' Home. During World War I and World War II, the members helped on the 1 homefront in a variety of ways, from staffing Red Cross stations to sponsoring orphans from foreign countries. Throughout the years, they sponsored classes for immigrants interested in becoming American citizens, and even helped take some of those immigrants to the testing site.

They also gave these naturalized citizens a silk flag and a copy of the American's Creed. As a 1928 report said, as "several organizations in our community are carrying on very effectively in other fields, Lima Chapter confines its activities largely to patriotic work. We cooperate with the City Federation of Women's Clubs, YWCA, American Legion Auxiliary, Public Library, and others in a Community Americanization program, visiting naturalization courts, holding contests of various kinds for the night school classes, taking part in celebrations of its pupils." In the schools, members sponsored patriotism contests and helped youngsters learn flag etiquette. They researched ideas and threw their support behind legislation on child labor and compulsory education. Mrs. Bidlack was retired from Zeller Corp. in Defiance. She was a member of Roselm Christian Church and its Ladies Aid. She was also a member of the Turkey Foot Trotters, the Black Swamp CB Club and United Auto Workers union Local 1298.

She was a 1951 graduate of Continental High School. Survivors include three sons, Mark (Helen) Bidlack, of Paulding, Dean (Betty) Bidlack, of Continental, and Todd (Karen) Bidlack, of Delphos; a daughter, Jill (David) Bauer, of Grover Hill; 14 grandchildren; 12 great grandchildren; a brotherin-law, Evan Krotzer, of Pemberville; and a sister-in-law, Virginia Bowling, of Mansfield. NOTABLE DEATHS ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) Warren Anderson, the courtly Republican majority leader of New York's state Senate from 1973-88, died Friday. He was 91. He died Friday afternoon at Wilson Hospital in Johnson City, said James Orband of Anderson's Binghamton-based law firm, Hinman, Howard Kattell. No cause of death was immediately available.

Anderson served in the Senate from 1953-88. He was a key player with Gov, Hugh Carey and the late Stanley Steingut, a Brooklyn Democrat who was state Assembly speaker, in fashioning the package that saved. New York City from bankruptcy in 1975. Anderson had been a close ally of Gov. Nelson Rockefeller and shared the patrician Republican's moderate-to-liberal leanings.

An abortion rights supporter, Anderson championed a 15 percent increase in welfare benefits in 1981. SANTA BARBARA, Calif. Mark Harris, best known for baseball novels that included "Bang the Drum Slowly," narrated by the fictional Henry Wiggen, died Wednesday. He was 84. Harris died Wednesday at Cottage Hospital here, a month after he broke his hip in a fall and contracted pneumonia, his wife, Josephine, said Friday from their home.

Harris had Alzheimer's disease, she said. Harris wrote five nonfiction books and 13 novels, including the baseball books "The Southpaw" (1953), "Bang the Drum Slowly" (1956), "A Ticket for a Seamstitch" (1957) and "It Looked Like Forever" (1979). he also adapted for the 1973 "Bang the Drum Slowly," which, movie starring Michael.
