25- Mike of Pittsburg; waa 'defeated by Eddie Gardner to-night before a small crowd in tho Drovers' Home Atlrletlo club. The men entered the ring at catchweights, Tun-hey having the advantage in height and rach. The referee, was Eugene Murray, of Benwoou. Ti men opened up at a lively clip In the first round, evidently determir.ed that the light would not last There was very lit tl science displayed daring the battle, the men break-" ing from one clinch only to get together again, and both' fouling repeatedly. Gardner played constantly for wind, after the fashion of his brother Oscar, while Tun-ney countered with rights and lefts on the jaw.

Both were punished severely during the first three rounds, and Tun-ncy had a knockdown to his credit, but honors were even. Gardner rushed in the fourth, and repeated jabs in the stomach made his opponent groggy. He was ail but out, and completely at the mercy of Gardner when the referee-stopped the bout and gave 'the decision to Gardner. The preliminary was very tame. iPFCTATonS CHEKB AD Ttl.L 1 AMAIXMCS AT TUG IX- tSt'AL SIGHT.
