Mr. Mary McLaughlin, who keen a store at Noblestown, swore that about an hour before the murder McMurray entered her store and wanted to obtain a revolver to shoot a rat, he said "William District; who waa In the store at the time, offered him his weapon, but Mrs. McLaughlin says ahe refused to allow McMurry to take It because he waa under the Influence of liquor.

District substantiated Mrs. McLaughlin's testimony, but upon rross-ekamlnation. said that he did not think McMurray was drunk and that he waa in proper condition to ahoot rats. The trial will be continued this morning. Convicted of Counterfeiting-.

Samuel Bennett, of Indiana, waa convicted of counterfeiting, but recommendrd to mercy In the I'nlted Htates district court. Bennett waa put on the aland In his own behalf and said he made no molds for counterfeiting except on one occasion. "Just for fun." He said McCauley secured the materials and was persecuting him because they had quarreled. Hubert Hoffman waa convicted of similar charges. He said while prospecting tor coal and Iron he found the counterfeiting kit, and was taking it to McConnrlaburg to turn over to tba authorities when arrested.
