I In Tlie HitiirtNomf 'Vew llbllHhmeiit of MeMtr. Bioglimu seneer. About the first of last April an army of artisans of various trades Imgan work ou the remodeling of the Patterson Block, Sixth street, cornwr of Penn avenue Their work was about, completed last week, and the result of their laitor is truly astonishing. Itwasnotfie iutentiou of the proprietors of the hotel, Messrs. Binjj-bam Spencer, to open until a later date but the large crowds of people who were attracted to the city induced them, as a matter of accommodation to tbe public, to receive guests last Mod.

The hotel was named after the popular and handsome of Madison Square, New York, and it is the intention of the proprietors to make tbe Pittsburgh "Albemarle" in every way reflect credit on its metropolitan namesake There are 125 guest rooms, the ms.iority of which are directly lighted from lartze windows and are tbe personification of cheerfulness. It would be sate to say that no hotel in the country the size of the Albemarle has si larger number of desirable rooms. The furnishment of the hotel is of such an elaborate and expensive character as to impress one with the idea that cost was not taken into consideration when the carpets, furniture, mantels, were ordered- To eay that everjthiug of the very liest is to state the exact truth. The hotel is well supplied with exits, as there are three stairways, one in the center of the building, and one on either end, in addition to the elevator. There are two iarge dining rooms on the second floor besides the cafe on the ground tioor ot the structure.

The cuisine is under tbe supervision of an Italian chef of en viable reputation, who wii! see that novel, palatable and wholesome dishes are placed on the table. The banmiet room is an other feature that will commend itself to the favorable consideration of a Pittsburgh public. It is separate from either of the other dining rooms and is just what has been needed this vicinity tor use ou special occasions. Tbe hotel will be conducted on the i American and European plans, the manner and cost living being lft entirely who the wishes ot the guest. The terms are liberal.

On the American plan rooms aud board can be obtained for day and upward. On the European plan rooms can be secured at cl pr day aud upward, according to thesieandlocation, the cost of living by the latter plan being regulated by the aniwtite and desire of the guest. Iba proprietors ot tbe "Aibsmarle, Mr. James M. Bingham and Mr.

Charles M. spencer, need not be introduced to a Pittsburgh public, as they are both wdl and favorably known as gentlemen fully competent to run a hotel. Mr. C. B.

fiamai is head clvrk aua will be assisted by Mr. W. trtnoud, late of the Forest City House, Cleveland. The general impression swrus to be that the "Albemarle" will rapidly jump to the front rank and will be quickly recog nized as one of the leading hotels of the State, a position to which its furnisment, arrangement and location certainly entitle it. HIGHLY mbrelln Nnle.

Pearsoa Pruinaiive OrthodoiJ An ABi- Dialed Dlseumiun Exerftd The meeting of the Stat Synod of the Prewbyteriau Church yesterday took an animated turn during the morning session.

Rev. Dr. Arthur T. Pearson, of Philadelphia, offered a resolution which, if patted, will sound the death knell of what is known as progressive theology. A short time ago, it will be remembered, some younc ministers, graduates of An- dover Seminary, applied to the Board of Missions for work in the foreign fields and their applications were referred to the Prudential Committee.

This committee refused to indorse any of the applicants, owing to the fact that they bad am rued their belief in future probation, a doctrine at variance with the church creed. The resolution was seconded by Ir. Cunningham and was then referred to the Cotuiutttee on Biiis and Overtures, wnicn will report to-day. A lively discussion is expected.

At the afternoon session Rev. John D. White, 1. Secretary of the Church Erection Bout told of the good work that has been done by building churches in the West ami he urged that more money be appropriated for the work. The report of the Trustees of Lafayette College was read and referred to the special committee on that college.
