In a hockey game last night at Duquesne Oarden. Iawson City, from the gold country, defeated the r.

A. C. seven 8 to 6. The game was very laughable from start to finish, as neither team knew much about playing hockey, and It looked more like a bunch of actors doing a funny trick before the footlights. The visitors, although living In the col-lest city in the country, where they have ice seven months in the year, were away off In skating, and as far as hockey Is concerned they make a poor showing.

Manager Miller had a fine lot cf men to represent the P. A. C. team, which at one time was the fastest hockey even In this State. His team was made up of lnterscholastlc players, skate boys from the garden and has-beens of former years.

There was not much to the game, and before It was over the small crown grew restless, liawson City scored five of lt goals In the first half, while P. A. C. could get only two. The half ended with both teams playing for wind.

in the second half the F. A. C's took a brace and started to rush things along, and It looked at one time as If they were going to tie the score. They would have done so had Koch, the skate hoy. did more passing.

Arch Williams kept the spectators in good humor by trying to stand most of the visitor on their heads by may of tripping. For this he had to warm the bench. P. A. C.

scored three goals in this half, making five in all. The visitors also managed to shoot three. Final score: tlty P. A. C.

In spite of the miserable day, rain and snow, quite a crowd of admirers turned out. Of counii It was a rather discouraging first day, but Secretary ted man wu happy nevertheless.

His efforts have secured a really nrnt-claaa bench ehow for Pittsburg. A vlalt to tha hall will convince everybody of this. Every canine breed li represented by the best in Its clam. There are bulldogs there so ugly that they are beautiful. A long string of fox terrier, always popular dogs In Pittsburg, both wire halrad and smooth, are, on exhibition, and a better and livelier set never barked In the old hall.

Big dogs are well represented big and ugly, which means first-class. Judging began early and the ring was surrounded by a dense mob all the time. Thre are many local dcgs on exhibition, and nearly all look as If they were of championship caliber. A local representative Is In almost every class. Th plan originally announced was to have excerpts from all the opera of next week: played to-day. but so many request were receive! from those who missed the Tuesday program that the above change was decided upon.
