Smith Township Club Meets With Mrs. Wilson Mrs. Reba Wilson was hos tess for the recent meeting of the Forever Learning Ex ten siion Homemakers Club of Smith Township. The meeting was opened with the song of the month, "America the Beautiful," led by Mrs. Doris Lester.

"Happy was sung to Mrs. Alta M. Me Coy and Mrs. Lester. The club creed was repeated in iim'son, and devotions entitled "Patterns for a Church," were presented by Mrs.

Lester. Members responded to roll call with "How I Spent the Fourth of July." The health and safety lesson by Mrs. Lola Faye Dayhoff explained "What a driver should do if he hits an animal on the highway." The club lesson of the month. "Growing Old was presented by Mrs. Mary Beatty.

During the business session the group discussed a trip for the month. The slate of new officers was read by the president as follows: President, Mrs. Beatty: vice president, Mrs. Betty Page; secretary treasurer, Mrs. Edith Hiatt: reporter, Mrs.

Marjorie Dayhoff; song leader. Mrs. Lester: and health and safety leader. Mrs. Reba Wilson.

Other members present were Mrs. Faye Dayhoff and Mrs. Imogene Haskins. Mrs. Lester closed the meeting with a poem.

The door prize was awarded to Mrs. Beatty and refreshments of cake and ice cream were served to ten members. Mrs, Tribby Attends Delt Convention Mrs. Rita Tribby, a member of the Linton Zeta Beta chapter of Delta Theta Tau Sorority attended the nternational convention J.3y 16-20 in the Statler Hilton Hotel in Detroit, Mich. Delegates from 191 chapters of the international philanthropic sorority, 12 international officers, 11 past national presidents, one honorary member, five province chairmen and one founder, Mrs.

Charlene Rector of Memphis, Tenn. There were 242 delegates in attendance. Mrs. Milton Bowman of East Chicago, International President. presided over the four-day convention.

The highlight of the meetings was the presentation of the international philanthropy awards. Mu Alpha of Anaheim, received the lighted crest for highest per capita, and Iota Iota of Kendallville received the second place award, a gavel. The lighted pin was awarded to Tau at Valparaiso, for the highest amount spent, and the Olive Huston Cup went to Epsilon Beta at Bluffton, for the highest per capita service hours. A white Bible was awarded to Eplison Beta also, for the highest total volunteer hours. The total amount cf money spent for Hymera Class Meets With Mrs.

Barnett The True Blue Sunday School Class of Hymera enjoyed a social Thursday night at the home of Mrs. Mary Barnett. Mrs. Faye Love served as hostess. Devotions were presented by Mrs.

Beulah Crowder and a short business session was conducted before the meeting was turned over to the hostess. Those attending were Mrs. Tillie Stwalley, Mrs. Celia En strom, Mrs. Neta Slack, Mrs.

Rowena Mathers. Mrs. Nellie Worth. Mrs. Edith Scott, Mrs.

Edith Gaskins, Mrs. Crowder, one guest, Mrs. Vivian Walters and the hostesses. Worthington Club Meets At Park Members and guests of the Worthington Hi-Neighbor Club enjoyed a homemade ice cream supper at the Worthington Pub lie Park last Thursday. Hostesses were Mrs.

Jack Wolfe and Mrs. Gilbert Dyer Ivlrs. Aaron Barton and Mrs. Leona Terrell conducted the entertainment activities during which games were enjoyed and prizes were awarded to the winners. Those attending were Mr.

and Mrs. Alva Cooksey. Mr. and Mrs. Marion Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. Gilbert Dyer. Mr. arid Mrs.

Sheldon Vandeventer, Mrs. Beulah Rollison. Mrs. Loren Bays, Mrs. Sadie Royer.

Iva Miller. Mrs. Barton, Mrs. Jack Wolfe and Miss Esther. Fulk.

It was anounced that the August meeting will he held at the Worthington Park and will feature a white elephant sale. Mrs. Padgett and Mrs. Cooksey will serve as hostesses. philanthropy through the Gold en Hand Fund by the 2K2 chapters was $172,203.21.

The international Philanthropy Committee gave a report on the projects of the sorority which are the Educational Grants in the field of guidance and counseling, and the Nursing Services in Kentucky. The delegates again voted to expend $10,000 for the grants, and $3,000 for the nursing services. In the past nine years 143 young men and women have been able to further their education in guidance and counseling with the assistance of the sorority. Climaxing the convention Saturday was an impressive installation ceremony for the new ly-elected international officers. Mrs.

W.F. -Lear of Fort Wayne, convention coordinator, and the hostess chapters from Detroit, Fort Wayne and Albany were in charge of the social affairs which included an informal party, a luncheon and a banquet, using the theme, "Motor City Milieu." Marriot Motor Inn in Atlanta, was chosen as the location of the 1970 convention, with Mrs. Kermitt Money of Shelbyville as coordinator. Plans have been formulated for the 1969 convention at the Statler Hilton in Dallas. July 22-26, with Mrs.

George Fournier of Detroit as coordinator. Happy Pals Club Holds Picnic Meeting The Happy Pals Club of Bucktown held its meeting last Tuesday at Humphreys Park in Linton. Mrs. Bill Morris served as hostess. Members and guests enjoyed a pincic lunch following prayer.

Present were Mr. and Mrs. Bill Morris, Mr. and Mrs. Phil Coen and children.

Brian and Brad, Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Viers, Mrs. Mary Foster and grandson. Larry Mrs.

Edna Robertson, Mrs. Dorothy Pirtle, Mrs. Ona Bedwell, Mrs. Ernestine Dunford, Mrs. LuEmma Perigo and Mrs.

Fern Black. Mrs. Margaret Creager and Mrs. Eva Richards called in the afternoon. Following a short business session games were enjoyed, and prizes were awarded to the winners.

William Wills held its -annual family reunion on Sunday at Carroll Lake, McKenzie, Tenn. Those of the immediate family present were Mr. and Mrs. George Wills of Freelandville, Mr. and Mrs.

William Wills and son of Evansville, Mrs. Emily Tucker, and Mr. and Mrs. Owen Tucker of Albany, Mr. and Mrs.

J. E. Wills of Indianapolis, Mr. and Mrs. Malone Wills and Mr.

and Mrs, Morris Wills of Sandborn. Many other relatives and friends of the family joined them at the noon hour. Mr. and Mrs. Charles Davis of Sylvina, visited here over the weekend with friends.

On Sunday, Mr. Davis, a former minister of the Christian church here, spoke at the morning service, and Mrs. Davis sang. Mr. and Mrs.

Russell L. Hildebrand spent the weekend in Florissant, with their son and family, Mr. and Mrs. George A. Hildebrand and children.

Mr. and Mrs. Roy Mikels of Indianapolis visited from Saturday until Monday with her mother, Mrs. Retta Gross. Weekend guests of Mrs.

Ira Nierste were, Mr. and Mrs. Richard Nierste and children of Brownsburg and Mrs. Paul Nierste of Indianapolis. On Sunday they visited with Paul Nierste who is a patient in the Good Samaritan hospital in Vincennes.

Worthington Church Class Enjoys Picnic the shelter house in the Worthington Public Park was the scene for the recent July meet ing of the Philathean Sunday School class of the Worthington First Christian church. A covered dish dinner was enjoyed during the noon hour, followed by prayer by Mrs. chth Biddle. Mrs. Tony Woody, president, opened with a business session and minutes of the previous meeting were read by Mrs.

Ona Pryor. Mrs. Kate Merrill presented the financial report. Members signed cheer cards to be sent to members who are ill. Those enjoying the after noon were Mrs.

Ruth Jean. Mrs. Dora DeFrees, Mrs. Jessie Bucher, Mrs. Gladys Pickett.

Mrs. Eva Newsom, Mrs. Winnie McClarren, Mrs. Biddle, Mrs. Merrill, Mps.

Ural Hayden Honored At Birthday Party Uarle Hayden was honored on his 100th birthday with a party at Rest Haven Monday afternoon. Ice cream and cake were served by Mrs. Ruth Allen and Miss Amy Burrell to Mrs. Susan Hayden, Mrs. Isadora Lynch.

A covered dish dinner was enjoyed by guests seated at a large table centered with birthday cakes and cut flowers.

Mrs. Ethel Sexson. a member of the church who recently observed her birthday, was also honored at the dinner. The church presented Rev. Chaffin with a birthday gift and the couple received many baby gifts.

PFC Charles 0. Laughlin II, left Monday for California after spending a two weeks furlough here with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Charles O.

Laughlin and family. His wife, Mrs. Linda Laughlin, who has been making her home with her parents in Plymouth, while he is in service, was also a guest in the Laughlin home. Laughlin, who entered the service on Novemb er 15, 1967, received his basic training at Ft. Leonard Wood, and from there was sent to Ft.

Devens, Mass. He will be in California 80 days before go ing to Vietnam. Laughlin is in the Army Security Agency. The Onward Class of the Christian church held its regular meet.ng on Tuesday evening in the church social room with a covered dish supper. A short business session was held and conducted by the president, Morris Wills.

Hymera Personals Mr. and Mrs. Ray Riggs are the parents of a son born last Saturday. Mrs. Ida Dorothy is a patient in the Freeman Greene County Hospital after suffering a fall which resulted in a broken hip.

Mrs. Faye Duncan and Mrs. Oleen House and graddaugh- ter, Patricia Himebrook, visited in South Bend and Michigan last week. Mrs. Maude Charles and family returned home with them for a two weeks visit with her parents, Mr.

and Mrs. Hollis Duncan. Several out-of town guests attended the Hymera Jackson Township Homecoming Sunday. Mr. and Mrs.

Bruce Gilman of California travelled the farthest to attend. Mr. and Mrs. Bill Williams of West Virginia are here visiting Mrs. Sylvia Williams and other friends and relatives.

and Mrs. Bruce Barnett and family are vacationing on the West Coast. They plan to visit Disneyland and other points of interest in California. Mr. and Mrs.

Ray Tribble of Indianapolis spent the past week here visiting Anne Tribble and Leslie. Mrs. Donna Kay House and daughter, Mrs. Wilma Trump and Jackie, and Mrs. Oleen House spent Thursday in Terre Haute shopping.

Stella McAnally is home from the hospital and is staying with her daughter in Paxton. Mr. and Mrs. William McClain, and family have been visiting his parents, Mr. and Mrs.

William McClain, here. Mr. and Mrs. William Gaskins have purchased the Maggie Reynolds property and will there soon. Mrs.

Reynolds is moving to Terre Haute.
