Young Artist Makes Strides In Early 20s SANTA ANA Not long ago a young matron named Jane Hoffman called Leisuretime to talk about some new murals in her son's bedroom, bathroom and train room. so good people are stopping by to see she crowed. is delighted (3 years of age) and my husband, Arnold, said I should call The Register to talk about Phil Yeh, the artist. a Mrs. Hoffman brought in photographs of the giant-sized murals, and we investigated further.

Phil Yeh. at 22, is making a wide mark in his own sphere, which is concerned primarily with art. He has his own company, has done significant things in the world of art, and he and his partner publish a demi-tabloid art news magazine called It has a readership of 30,000, according to boys. Phillip Dana Yeh was born in Chicago, Oct. 7,1954.

He started drawing before he was two and has continued ever since His education included the usual school projects. work on the paper (doing cartoons etc and learning from different art classes. He studied in 1972 75 at Long Beach State University in illustration where he found out education was not what it could be During his time at State and in high school, Phil began his own company devoted to producing artwork in different areas of the media. His Eastwind Studios began in 1970 and has done work in silk-screening, advertising, leather, murals and other fields of art. Phil and his partners had a shop at Pepper Tree Faire in Anaheim for 1 years, where they produced a variety of art goods and services.

Their most original included hand-painted leather belts with cartoons designed especially for the customer; original water-colour greeting cards; and murals. Phil and his partner, Mark first mural was at Pepper Tree Faire (1514 W. Broadway in Anaheim) and received quite a bit of attention from the community They have completed murals for the Long Beach City Hall (in a contest sponsored by the city, they won first prize), in private homes and for businessmen. Their murals are all painted in a high-colour cartoon style. Aside from their artwork, Phil and Mark publish an art newspaper in Southern California called Cobblestone.

The paper appears each month in some 70 California cities. It has a readership of 30.000. They began the paper in January, 1975.
