1 8 5D0FIT WAR IN SOUTH AFRICA WIL SOON ENTER UPON ITS THIRD YEAR. GOVERNMENT ORGANS KICK Accuse the War Office of Delay in Sending Needed Reinforcements to Lord KitchenerMystery Surround- ing the Operations and the Whole Situation in Natal Forms the Sub- ject of Editorial Protests. London, Oct. 2.Within two weeks the war in South Africa will have entered upon its third year and in the face of a recrudesence of organized operations on the part of the Boers and of the impossibility of carrying ou: Brodrick's promise to reduce the war expenses by sending home some troops, the government organs are again becoming restless. There is a mystery surrounding tho operations and the whole situation in Natal and the denials and evasions of the war office concerning the alleged friction between Mr.

Brodrick and Lord Kitchener form the subject of editorial protests on all sides. "We have the right to expect," says The Standard, "that the government will lose no time in sending out such ample reinforcements as the military chiefs on the spot deem necessary." The Daily Mail, which finds evidence that Lord Kitchener is in a difficult predicament, and fears that the government is delaying reinforcements out of a desire to avoid summoning parliament to vote the necessary supplies, warns the government that if this be the case a grave risk is being run. Similar protests are made on all sides. The Times, after reminding the government of the "repeated blunders and miscalculations which have cost the empire such a terrible price," says: "A third campaign has now opened in South Africa and there is no sign that the government is doing anything to prepare for possibly the dragging out of the war for several months more. Already it is too late to provide such a mobile force as would be adequate this autumn.

Is the government doing anything to provide it even three months hence, and if not what possible excuse can the government urge for this neglect?" SEVENTEEN ENTOMBED. Situation at Extension Mine Remains Unchanged. Nanaimo, B. Oct. 2.The situation at Extension mine remains practically unchanged.

Seventeen are known to be entombed in No. 2 slope. The mines are now sealed to prevent the ingress of air and so smother the flames. This is the only possible way of killing the fire and it will take months and perhaps a year to effect the result desired. All efforts have so far faiied to prevent a certain amount of air leaking in, and this has.

once or twice, caused explosions that have blown out the stoppings. Such explosions on a large scale would utterly wreck the mines and it is feared that it may happen at any moment. Premier Dunsmuir has promised to find work for at least half of the 500 men who are thrown out of employment. All except two of the victims have families and relief funds have been opened in their behalf. The bodies, of course, cannot be recovered until the fire is extinguished.

REBELS REPULSED. Chinese Malcontents Attack Hing Nang and Shaksm. London. Oct. 2.Thousands of rebels, says a dispatch to The Daily Mail from Hong Kong, after sacking the German mission at Piang Thong, attacked Hing Nang, a city near Canton.

They were repulsed but they fhen attacked Shakma, where they were again repulsed. Two thousand Chinese troops have been sent to suppress them. Disorders have arisen in the Yangtse provinces owing to the ravages of the floods and the diversion of the relief funds by corrupt officials," says the Shanghai correspondent of The Standard. "These threaten to culminate in rebellion. The situation is very grave and the local authorities have been ordered to raise troops and to place the districts in a state of defense." HATE ENGLAND'S O'Brien Says Irish Only Need Arms and Training of Boers to Show It.

Dublin, Oct. 2.At the meeting of the United Irish league in Dublin, the lord mayor of Dublin presiding, a letter of apology for absence was read from William O'Brien, M. who expressed a hope that "if the king visits Ireland next year, the league will arouse a spirit which will convince his majesty that he has come among a people discontented and disaffected to the core, only needing arms and training- of the Boers to testify to thenhatred of England's rule with an eloquence equal to that of the unconcjuered South African republics." Ten More Companies of Coast Artillery Washington, Oct. 2.Orders will be issued soon by Lieutenant General Miles, commanding the army, to provide for the addition of 10 companies of coast artillery. The material for these companies already has been secured, but the Issuance of the formal order is withheld until arrangements can be made to receive the men at the stations they will occupy.

President Shaffer Will Try to Settle the Troubles at Bay View. Milwaukee, Oct. 2.Word has been received at Bay View that President of the Amalgamated "association would come to Milwaukee within a day or two for the purpose of bringing about a settlement of the trouble existing between the Illinois Steel company and the men who are still out on strike. President Sfiaffer is coming in response to an invitation of the strikers. The trouble is over a question of wages.

It appears that the Illinois Steel company is not willing to pay the scale that was in force prior to the strike and this reason a number of the men who returned to work walked out again while about half the original number of strikers are still at work. Days DR. DORAN. The successs-of Dr. Doran is attributed to his special study of specialism. Dr.

Doran, student, philanthopist, and man of wide reputation, having given his entire time and practice to a line of special diseases, which enables him from long experience in handling these troubles to certainly come forward as a master speciaist. His faculty for mastering disease, his ability to diagnoee, and his plan of treatment is not to be excelled by few other physicians. Dr. Doran, although a young man in life, a plain man, and one who is used to the ups and downs of life, puts himself on a level with his patients and does not profess or pretend to practive the old plan of fashion, which is to look wise and say nothing. He knows disease: he knows how to explain the symptoms of disease he knows where to look for disease, and the spot where located, and most of all he knows from experience, from what he has done in the past, he can certainly do for others in the future.

It is said by Dr. Doran's friends that he can diagnose a disease of any patient without asking them a single question that being the case, he is not likely to doctor them for the wrong ailment he will not take an incurable disease and lead the patient to believe that he can cure when there is really no hope for them. Dr. Doran's business is large and he has plenty to do, even at times, more than he can do, without taking incurable diseases and deceiving his patients. Dr.

Doran is a graduate from one of the best English universities, as well as being a graduate from two of the best schools in America. He has practiced his profession in some of the principal hospitals in this country. His specialty comprises that class of diseases which the ordinary home doctor fails to cure. Dr. Doran's plan of work is to go among those who are unable to come to him in his city offices for treatment.

He is charitable, and it is said he has never been known to refuse to treat a patient who is worthy and in need. A number of important cases that we hereby take the liberty to publish, which might be of interest to some who wish to know more of Dr. Doran's great work: MRS. H. C.

DORMAN, Minniski, Minn. Cured of along standing case of piles with one treatment, without cutting and without use of medicines. Cured the famous injection plan, which never fails to cure. EDGAR PUTMAN, Weaver, Minn. Cured of a chronic skin disease', eczema, after all other kinds of treatment had failed to do him any good at all.

A. FULLWILER, Round Lake, Minn. Cured of chronic kidney troubles and acute Bright's disease after other doctors had failed to do her any good whatever. ROBT. McWALTER, East Grand Forks, Minn.

Cured of liver and stomach troubles and dyspepsia, with Dr. Doran's plan of treatment, combined with the celebrated Cascarine treatment. A. C. MYER, Ormsby, Minn.

According to reliable reports the loggers who are planning early work in the woods this winter, have sent orders to this city for men a $26 to1 $30 per month. During the summer months as high a $3o a month and board was offered. This decline in wages offered is construed as an effort to reduce the general wage scale in the woods during the coming winter. The chances are not favorable for success along that line, as there is plenty of work of other kinds to be had at higher wages than now News-Tribune. A Fe Bargains Left.
