Hero Is another in the series:) By MABEL WOSSEB Sausalito Librarian The Sausalito Public Library will join other libraries in Marin county and throughout the State of California Marbh 8-14 in celebrating the second annual California Library Week. for Eveiyone at Your will be the theme of the celebration, which is sponsored by the California Library Association. Purpose of the week is to inform residents of the city and state of the many valuable services and resources available in their libraries. Too few persons make adequate use of our public libraries. The library distributes what in many ways is the most valuable commodity in a city large or small, books, facts, enlightenment, Information and new ideas.

Freeze-dried steaks already are here, the food technology department of the University of California reported yesterday.

Tender, inch-thick steaks are dried under vacuum to about one- fourth their normal weight, then stored in deep freeze. When dunked in water and then cooked almost as good as fresh steaks, said Aloys L. Tappel, food, technologist. The Army quartermaster corps is not yet ready to go for this new product however, because even after processing the steaks have to be kept in deep freeze. The Army wants a freeze-dried steak that will keep without refrigeration.

The technologists here are working on it. Freeze-drying is the method used to preserve blood plasma. When dried into powder the plasma will keep indefinitely. It can be reconstituted simply by the addition of distilled water. Driver Sues Railroad A $1,885 damage suit was filed in Marin Municipal court yesterday by an automobile driver who charges his car was damaged when it was struck by the engine of a freight train in The suit was filed by Anthony Vestea and names the Northwestern Pacific railroad as defendant for not providing signals or wig-wags where the railroad crosses road.
