ALAC Broadcast Partners licensee of WTVM 9 is the latest group to file an objection to the sale with the ederal Communications Commission It follows a Petition to Deny request filed last month by Avant Development Corp licensee of WRBL TV 3 ALAC using basically the same argument Avant presented in its petition contends that WXTX TV 54 owner Pezold and not Ollison will actually be in control of Channel 38 once the sale of the station by Lewis Broadcasting of Savannah to Piney Creek Broadcasting Corp is complete In asking for an CC hearing to investigate charges the sale would violate the duopoly rule (a single company is not allowed to own two television stations in the same market) ALAC contends that previous negotiations with Mr (Claude) Lewis concerning WLTZ Mr role in finding Ms Ollison as a purchaser of the station his role in funding the acquisition of the station by her his control of the finances programming and personnel under a Time Brokerage Agreement and Ms virtually complete lack of any benefits or burdens of ownership strongly suggest that Mr Pezold will in fact be in control of Piney Creek company formed simply for the purchase of WLTZ is expected to respond to the latest challenge later this month Long after ABC rids itself of its current entertainment president Ted Harbert his legacy of asking network shows to refrain from using introductory theme songs will live on Think about what asking If been at CBS in September 1972 Harbert would undoubtedly have asked producers to drop Johnny famed theme Is If been at ABC three years later he would have demanded producers of Back to drop John theme song which reached No 1 on the Billboard survey reasoning is that when a show with an opening theme comes on the air it allows the viewer the opportunity to switch to another channel Teddy boy Who in their right mind would tune out Ballard of Jed Tyler ive and In some cases the theme song was considerably better than the show that followed Case in point: Agent Hopefully Harbert will turn his attention to something really important like the gawd awful Night in featuring Marilu Henner formerly of Shade" (WLTZ 11 12 am) and exercise guru Susan Powter (WTVM 10 10:30 am) Holdover talk shows include (WRBL 9 10 am) (WTVM 4 5 pm) and (WRBL 56 pm) The lone locally produced chatfest remains in place at 6 am That show hosted by Calvin loyd enters its fourth season on the air The networks offer three daytime gab hours and Jane Whitney which is already on thin ice and and notice that perennial favorite Phil Donahue and the always perky Sally Jessy Raphael (both recently dropped by WTVM) are not on the fall schedule However their syndicate has been in touch with WRBL and since Channel 3 does have an opening at 10 am a chance that either could find a home there Sadly kidding!) the new Suzanne Somers talk show has not been picked up by a local station AfEA ALL HU IM ILM i 15 1 AGA Turns 24 Exposures You'll have it made in the shade sun indoors and out with brilliant Agfacolor XRG film and our store processing NOTHING ESCAPES AGA ILM 3 '500 Ron Bartlett programmer at WLTZ has done a pretty good job lining up Channel fall schedule seeing that if the sale of the station to the Ollison Pezold group is allowed probably be without a job Operating with very little Lewis capital Bartlett has added to his afternoon lineup (where it will team up with the successful the Heat of the replaced his prime access (7 8 pm) programming with Stories of 'V the Highway and brought in Jenny Jones to host a noon time talk show replaced the departed With Mick Walsh is madia columnist for The Lodger Enquirer ONE HOUR SERVICE with DRIVE THRU WINDOW ilm Batteries rames Enlargments CopyingRestoring Passport Photos AC WEBS The four full power TV stations have almost completed their fall schedules and as usual a preponderance of syndicated talk shows on the grid But need your TV Book to discover at which time and on which channel your favorite talk show will air or example: With Regis and Kathie moves from WLTZ to WTVM in September Air time: 9 am Ricki Lake leaves WLTZ for WRBL Air time: 4 pm which was carried by WRBL a year ago resurfaces at WLTZ in the fall Air time: 12 noon carried locally by WXTX moves to WTVM Air time: 12:05 am New to the market are nannannasn: PORTRAIT STUDIO DRIVE THRU II I ROLLS ILM nn TO BE PROCESSED PRINTED 1 11 Il GET A ROLL ILM (J 0 I I LOCATED AT 5762 MILGEN ROAD MILLER ROAD EXIT BEHIND SPECTRUM AMOCO STATION IN SHOPPING PLAZA HOURS: A MONDAY RIDAY 10:00 AM 7:00 PM SATURDAY 10:00 AM 5:00 PM CLOSED SUNDAY 21 PORTRAIT SPECIAL S1Q95 16 Half Wallets I uci dull ur riLin REE ALL ILMPROCESSING I OER GOOD TlfaU AUG 27 1 99 WITH THIS COUPON CAPTUBE i i' ONE HOUR Mata AGACOLOR.
