Record-Herald -Page 6 Holiday workshop held at Fish and Game Lodge An atmosphere of the Christmas holidays prevailed at the Fish and Game Lodge recently when five Fayette Garden Clubs met for a holiday workshop, Decorations, arts and crafts, and nearly 50 flower arrangements were made and displayed by Mrs. Mabel Shoup of Dayton. Tile Lodge was the perfect setting for the workshop, and a fire in the log fireplace with sprinkles of snow out-of- doors added to the setting.

Mrs. Shoup used three long tables for her display of candles, arrangements, and items for around the home such as wreaths, rattan mats, and miniature oil lamps entwined with holly. A carry-in dinner was enjoyed at the noon hour and Mrs. Roxie Thompson gave the invocation preceding the meal. The five county clubs were represented by the Washington Garden Club Mrs Donald Meredith, contact chairman.

Dorothy Bihl, and Mrs Medrith Hana walt; Town and County Club was represented by Mrs. Mary Belle Biddle, Mrs. Lois Duff, Mrs. Roxie Thompson, Mrs. Mary Baumann and Mrs.

Barbara Armintrout. Fayette Garden Club members present were Mrs. Hazel Lough, Mrs. Connie Meriweather, Mrs. Maryon Mark, Mrs.

Ruth Stell, Mrs. Alice Bush, Mrs. Marguerite Jenkins, Mrs. Kenneth Bush and the Misses Jeanette and Josephine Roush. From the Twin Oaks Club were Mrs.

Opal Bonecutter, Mrs. Wilbur Hoppes, Mrs Esther Braun, Mrs. Reba Blizard and Mrs Myrtle Thompson. Attending from the Greenfield Garden Club was Mrs. Robert Hodge, and other guests were Mrs.

Fern Carr, Mrs. Glenns Snyder, Mrs. Alice Cory, Mrs Griffin Thompson, Mrs. Edna Belle Hoppes, Mrs. Pat Temple and Mrs.

Wilma Hastings. AAUW meets in Hughes home Mrs Gene Hughes and Mrs. Robert Lee were co-hostesses Wednesday evening when the Washington H. branch of the American Association of the University Women, met in the Hughes home. Guest speaker Mrs.

Ralph Edwards, division chairman for the mental health department of the Ohio AAUW, told of a a film made recently at Orient Institute on the private care of patients. She also spoke of the Scioto-Paint Valley Guidance (enter, consisting of five counties. Board of Trustees of Fayette County include Mr. OM. Riegel, Attorney Hollo Marchant and Dr.

James Rose. Some of the counties have mobile clinics set up, she said, and funding is done by levies. The branches have been urged to look into securing school counselors. There are five facilities for juvenile delinquents, but Fayette County has none Mrs. Lee conducted the meeting and led a discussion concerning problem children, children abused by their parents and the emotionally disturbed.

Merton Tootle of New Holland entertained the Mount Sterling chapter, Daughters of the American Revolution at her home, when the program consisted of a round-table discussion concerning National Defense. Mrs. Ned Abbott, Regent, led the discussion, and opened the meeting in ritualistic form, assisted by Mrs. Tootle chaplain, and Mrs. Russell Ebert and Mrs.

Errol Black. Mrs. Edwin Arbogast registrar, reported that three boxes of clothing had been sent to the Rate Duncan Smith DAR School in Tennessee, and that anyone having clothing for young girls, and would like to donate it toward the project, should call her or Mrs. Abbott. Mrs.

Arbogast presided at the coffee service and Mrs. Black at the tea service, during the social hour when refreshments were served. A patriotic theme in red, white and blue prevailed. Thanksgiving' is theme Seventeen members ot the Bloomingburg United Methodist Women met at the church with Mrs. Malcolm Bloomer, Mrs.

Will Braun and Mrs. Willard Bitzer as hostesses. Devotions were presented by Mrs. Bitzer who also presented the program, entitled In the absence of Mrs. Eli Craig, Mrs.

Bloomer conducted the meeting, when various reports were made, and it was announced that Mrs. Fred Oswald, a member of the group, is ill. Refreshments were served. Eggs quickly lose their mild flavor if they are left at room temperature for even a short time. As soon as they are brought from the food market they should be refrigerated.

and Mrs. Mervyn Brown of 3458 Culpepper Trace Rd. Altar vases held yellow snapdragons and yellow carnations and candelabra had yellow satin ribbons. Satin ribbon bows with leather leaf marked the pews. Mrs.

Wayne Spangler presented a one-half hour of wedding music. Miss Flowers wore a gown of white nylonorgana withV-neckline scattered with seed pearls on ruffles. The long fitted sleeves were edged in ruffles and full skirt was also edged in ruffles. The detachable chapel-length train also ended in a ruffle. She carried a cascade bouquet of white Fuji mums and sonia roses.

Maid of honor Miss Karen Melvin wore a melon chiffon gown with long sleeves trimmed with white lace. Miss G.C. Murphy store honors employes The local G.C. Murphy Company store played host to employes and their families Wednesday evening during its annual Open House Party. The party gave employes an opportunity to do some Christmas shopping The store was decorated in typical Christmas fashion.

Refreshments were served and drawings for prizes took place. Winners were Miriam Pollard, Howard Gardener, Miss Brenda Lower and Miss Janet Deakyne. DA YP Club entertained Mrs. Arthur Petitt was hostess to the DA YP Club when IO members and four guests assembled in her home. Guests were Mrs.

Steven Merritt and Staci, Krista Petitt and Mrs. John Martindale. A buffet-style noon dinner was enjoyed. The afternoon was spent sewing on various items. The next meeting will be the Christmas party and gift exchange Dec.

14 in the home of Mrs. Alex Wackman. Those present were Mrs. Carl Wilt Mrs. Leonard Blessing, Mrs Orris Mallow, Mrs.

Ruth Smith, Mrs. Ella Speak man, Mrs. Howard Williams, Mrs. Charles Burke, Mrs. Clifton Roberts and Mrs.

Imel Howard. April Flowers the sister, and Miss Michaline Trimmer were bridesmaids. They wore yellow and orange chiffon gowns with long sleeves and white lace. Miss Melvin carried two yellow roses and the bridesmaids each carried a single yellow rose. Rex Leeth served as best man for his brother.

Bob Brown, Ronnie Brown and Mike Morris seated the wedding guests. Mrs. Flowers and Mrs. Brown wore yellow rose corsages. Hostesses for the reception held at the church were Mrs.

Charles Ford, Mrs. Roger L. West, Miss Starr Howell, Miss Vickie Bryan. The table had appointments of crystal. A three- tiered yellow and orange decorated wedding cake centered the table.

The bride is attending Laurel Oaks Vocational School and the groom, a 1974 graduate of Miami Trace High School, is serving in the U.S. Navy, and stationed at Great Lakes, 111. MW Committee plans meeting Members of the Martha Washington Committee on Indian Affairs, Daughters of the American Revolution, are reminded to bring Christmas gifts for the children of Chillocco Indian School to the meeting Nov. 25, to be held in the home of Miss Helen Slavens at 7:30 p.m. Mrs.

Jane Rankin will speak on Blue Jacket-War Chief of the Shawnees. Holiday bazaar has many items The annual holiday bazaar of the Buena Vista Ladies Aid took place in the Township Hall. Ladies of the group had made bread, pies, cakes, cookies, ceramic items, aprons, and beads for the sale. Canned vegetables, iris, lily and jonquil bulbs, and African Violets were also among items sold. PERSONALS Miss Megan Abbott, daughter of Mr.

and Mrs. Ned Abbott, 1828 Rt. 22NW, spent the weekend with her parents. Megan is a student at Ashland College, Ashland, Ohio. Mrs.

Merton Tootle of New Holland, along with a cousin, Mr. Wallace Bostwick of Chillicothe, have returned home from Fullerton, where they were the guests of Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Bostwick and family. The Union Jack was official flag from 1763 to 1965.
